5. An Iraq vet could lose his benefits
Edited on Tue Jun-05-07 04:14 PM by DesertRat
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- An Iraq war veteran is scheduled to appear before a military panel Monday for wearing his uniform during an anti-war protest.

Marine Corporal Adam Kokesh was photographed with several other veterans wearing their fatigues while attending a protest last month marking the forth anniversary of the war. After superiors spotted his picture in The Washington Post, Kokesh was told he might have violated a rule that prohibits troops from wearing uniforms without authorization.

Kokesh finishes up his reserve commitment in less than three weeks. The military panel will decide whether to change his discharge status from "honorable" to "other than honorable."

If the status is changed, Kokesh says he could lose some health benefits and be forced to repay more than ten thousand dollars he received under the G-I bill to get his undergraduate degree.

8. A painful reminder
On May 4, 1970 I wore my Air Force ROTC uniform to a peace rally on a college campus. It wasn't Kent State. If it had been, I might have been killed.

54% No. I think it shows his patriotism more, a soldier is programmed not to think and to do what he is told, it is refreshing to hear when they are outraged. Fight on soldier.

15. I missed the poll...
but I have to ask how anyone can vote "Yes" to this poll. This guy wasn't even technically wearing his uniform. He had removed all rank and insignia, so basically he was just wearing a pear of camos with his name on them. It was just his misfortune that somebody recognized him. Besides that, the guy isn't even on active duty anymore.
