Obama warns of 'quiet riot' among blacks
Obama Warns of 'Quiet Riot' Among Blacks
Tuesday June 5, 2007 9:16 PM
By BOB LEWIS
Associated Press Writer

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Tuesday that the Bush administration has done nothing to defuse a ``quiet riot'' among blacks that threatens to erupt just as riots in Los Angeles did 15 years ago.

The first-term Illinois senator said that with black people from New Orleans and the Gulf Coast still displaced 20 months after Hurricane Katrina, frustration and resentments are building explosively as they did before the 1992 riots.

``This administration was colorblind in its incompetence,'' Obama said at a conference of black clergy, ``but the poverty and the hopelessness was there long before the hurricane.

``All the hurricane did was to pull the curtain back for all the world to see,'' he said.

Obama's criticism of Bush prompted ovation after ovation from the nearly 8,000 people...

4. It's "better" than that. His election fraud machine routinely steals
their votes. They don't get to vote for ANYONE.

That's a race crime and that's why the Dems MUST, MUST get on this yesterday.

8. No he doesn't
As one of his ilk, James Baker said about another minority group a long time back "Fuck the jews, they don't vote for us anyway".

Captures their "philosophy" in essence :eyes:.

34. George Bush doesn't care about any "non-legacy" people
George Bush doesn't care about anybody who can't get into Yale because of who his poppy is; who can't get automatic C grades at Yale without doing anything, because of who his poppy is; who can't break any law with impunity because of who his poppy is; who wasn't born with a silver major league baseball club in his mouth; or who doesn't give hundreds of thousands of dollars to wingnuts and wingnut causes.

But it is true that he especially doesn't care about black people.

12. OK. I was trying to figure out if you were being serious or sarcastic.
I'm still not sure but that's OK. Little point in talking, I guess.

I just saw Tucker Carlson being an idiot (no surprise) and saying Obama was excusing the riots after the Rodney King verdict so I do understand that the Republicans are going to try to always take the most absurd POV on statements made by Democratic candidates.

He's my candidate and he's right, but he doesn't wanna sound too radical... Republicans are waiting for any chance to do a Willie Horton on him...

13. Too radical because he's proving a point?
Do YOU know how the people in the Gulf Coast feel? I doubted because the media hasn't been talking about the piss poor conditions they're living in right now because nothing is being done. He NEEDS to make this a big issue, not sweep it under the rug because they're all Black.

25. Nobody cares about what FAUX does anymore...
The only other pundits who would make a big deal about this is Tucker Carlson and maybe Joe Scarborough. Chris Matthews would cover it, but he seems to really understand the race issue. Nobody on CNN would make that big of a deal about it either I think.

18. There is now a quiet riot building in ...
the white race now, that some are seeing and feeling what blacks have been living with for a long time. Bush has no idea of how much of a squeeze that he is putting on blacks that have been struggling for some time and the repubs think that they can put them all in jail just like he thinks that he can kill everybody he considers a terrorists.

Cons would rather hire and train folks from other countries than their own citizens. If you keep putting your foot on someone's back expect a revolt as a result. He thinks that they will just go away or get the message that ,if you go to jail you won't do it again. A lot of these people are in jail falsely or they went to crime to survive, and now if you look at news reports you can see that it is not only blacks as the media likes to portray it.

And you would have had to avoid MTV altogether from about 1983-86 to avoid seeing Quiet Riot videos.

26. I'm not crazy about the use of 'riot' as a harbinger of Black angst and anger over Bush
as if the responses from our community would inevitably boil over into some confrontation akin to the unrest he kept referring to. I see the crowd warmed to the reference, but I think he could have better articulated that angst and anger in a way which reflected the majority of us who are not prone to riot, quietly or otherwise.

29. Just think about 12 million "illegals" getting furious too.
And all of us Americans joining them in the streets when we've finally had enough of the redneck nazis.

Often I hear conversations by New Orleanians who discuss seceding from the USA and choking off the exported food and imported oil to Nazi America via the Mississippi River.
