While most of the country is oblivious, a key special election for an open U.S. Congress seat takes place on June 26th in Los Angeles County. And one of the 17 candidates in the wide-open race is not only PDA endorsed,
he’s a PDA activist.
Peter Mathews’ positions are OUR positions. He has been long been outspoken about Iraq troop withdrawal, single-payer Medicare for All, Clean Elections, even accountability/impeachment.Normally, an under-funded candidate would have little chance of winning a Congressional seat, but in this free-for-all of a race Peter may well surprise on June 26.
Please make a generous https://www.pdamerica.org/donate.php">donation now to PDA so we can help candidates like Peter Mathews.Peter is an Asian-American of Indian descent, a popular professor well-known in the district. He is seeking to fill the seat vacated by Juanita Millender-McDonald, who recently died of cancer. The multiracial district includes Long Beach, Compton and Carson.
If you don’t live in Southern California, a good way to help Peter Mathews’ campaign is by doing virtual phone-banking into the district. PDA is dedicated to supporting candidates for office who are themselves progressive activists – like Peter Mathews. And like Jamie Eldridge, competing in a special Congressional election in Massachusetts on Sept. 4.
