How about an Anthropology group?
Some of the most interesting discussions I've had on DU lately involved speculation as to the origins of cultural practices and cultural differences. Is there any interest in starting an Anthropology group? Amateurs are encouraged to apply!

25. proposed Anthro group
Hi,

I am the OP of the thread proposing an anthropology group:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x1035661

Thanks for your positive response. We now have the required 10 "starred" backers and need to show consensus on the mission statement in the same thread. (It's very short and uncontroversial).

When you get a chance, please come back to the thread and reply to the statement.

thanks.

JD

30. What did the Anthro say when asked, "What does monkey taste like?"
"Kinda like missionary."

No kidding, I heard this one myself!!

A fellow Anthro who went to Chiquito to study stealing because the theft rate was so high.
He really learned a lot. His stereo system was stolen twice!

a short presentation on the role of a small sight in upstate NY tonight. I'm focusing on the role of the Jack's Reef pentagonal points in the continuity of culture in the Upper Susquehanna Prehistory. Of course, I'm using two books by Robert Funk, NYS Archaelogist: (1) Adaptation, Continuity, and Change in Upper Susquehanna Prehistory (w/ Bruce Rippeteau; 1977) and (2) Archaeological Investigations In the Uppr Susquehanna Valley, New York State" (1993).

Now, we need a mission statement, and it's off to the admins!

I'll put up a draft in a couple of hours... Please beat me to it if you're so inclined (not just LC, but anyone...)

And yes, discussion of the cultural dynamics of DU would be a very interesting topic for the new forum.

Eliminate "physical and cultural" and I'm on board. How about this:
