Lyla Lipscomb Video - The Gold Star Mother from Farenheit 911 with John Conyers
Time to HEAL - There's still Hope, folks - Gold Star mother Lyla Lipscomb Speaks Out
Edited on Tue May-29-07 10:18 PM by symbolman
I had the honor of flying to Detroit, Michigan during John Conyer's Town Hall Meeting on July 23rd, 2005 (which was mirrored in homes and halls that day all over America) where I filmed among other great speakers a Gold Star Mother named Lyla Lipscomb - who spoke so eloquently about her loss, and our nation's loss. (Sorry about the sound, the sound guy abandoned me, after I'd flown from Hawaii just to film this, but you can hear it fine if you listen)

If her name sounds familiar you may be recalling that she was in Farenheit 911, Michael Moore's Film, she was the Mother who seemed to be all gung ho for the "war", but then lost her son to it, and soon was in front of the White House laying it on the line for a woman who was rude, and buying the garbage flowing from that White House.

She gave me chills at this town Hall Meeting, and I would like to share it with you, with the hope that people don't give up, there are MANY of us fighting against this war, Takebackthemedia.com included, and have been for years.

Listen to this Lady, and take heart with what she says at the end, "Don't BE ISOLATED!"

If we tear each other apart, it's the same thing.

1. Thanks for filming this.
Sometimes we do feel alone. Especially me without family. Especially on days like today when things feel so hopeless. And what's worse is no communication.

The right lying, and the left trying.

2. Boy, you said a mouthful there
should be a bumper sticker :)

Don't be DOWN, there are PLENTY of people fighting this "war" - in case no one realizes it, and I know this is going to get people flaying me alive, a Mortal SIN, there WERE people fighting this Charade BEFORE Cindy Sheehan showed up to the party.

SOrry folks, but it's true.. I was on the Scarborough show with him threatening to shut off my microphone LONG before Cindy jumped into their chests with both feet.

Takebackthemedia.com has been pounding these guys for over 5 years with animations that were held in high esteem way back when, now if I mention it, I'm just BRAGGING (but I'm not, not really) :)

Thanks for the thanks, so rare these days, and it IS a LOT of work..

4. You deserve it.
I'm surprised this thread is virtually ignored. Probably missed in all of the excitement of whatever is going on here.

I'm down for a reason. And tonight it's all coming clear. Just rewatching a Sex Pistol's film. And suddenly I see it clear as day. American society. Now the woman in your film has been forced into being open and communicating her feeling. After nearly 20 years of struggling to find a home, I've put everything I own in storage, and am just renting. And I'm pissed. I see that it's the society that I'm uncomfortable with. I'm not finding real independent thinkers. I'm not finding brave people. Just go along. Just be safe. Just do what you're told. And now look where we are. We're a nation that has just let some fascists do their thing. And I can't stand being around these people in their metal boxes with wheels on a freeway. That's something to be down about.

Shit. I'm tired of thinking for the day. My head aches. I'd love to wake up in the morning and not see people lined up in a tidy row. I'd like to see individuals doing individual things. Yes it would be weird. I'm fucking bored with the status quo. Breeders in cars. McMansions. Subdivisions. McDonald's. What's good about it? I don't see a god damned thing. And now I'm 50. I can't just run drop everything and hitchhike around Europe. Sorry. I'm being too personal for a political forum, I suppose. America. No future for you.

6. The Filth and the Fury
I was just watching it myself, the good old days, eh Gregorian?

Do you chant by any chance? :) stupid joke I know..

I'm 54 and I know what you're saying, so many people DON'T GET IT anymore, and it looks like they never will.. I get down too, I remember days when I was young when EVERYONE was FULL of Energy, partying, but still THERE for each other, fists raised in the street, we BELONGED.

Now there's no communication, no sense of community, really. Just a bunch of frightened spuds smacking the shit out of each other, because the boss is too rich, too far above them, Lawless. Where The Door said everyone wanted SOMETHING to be SACRED, now all everyone wants is MONEY and POWER.

And the Mediocre are Vaulted, so the little ones strive their very best to BE Mediocre - I told my wife that society is falling apart, and she doesn't get it, being 14 years younger than me, she never SAW how it WAS when we were all Brothers and Sisters.

But it ain't over, there's still a TON of US left, and we Joke, we party, we Laugh, we're OLD School and we don't GIVE UP, that's the problem, You Don't give up, and the wall is HUGE now, the one you beat your head against, with no cracks.

Don't you worry pal, we've got some tricks up our sleeve yet.. wait for my book to come out, do me that favor, I KNOW that you'll like "The Jesus Bolt", I'm hoping that it will Change Society (as all writers do, eh?), and that people just may get CLOSER once they realize what's in the damn book.

It's "Tricky" :) A GOOD Mindfuck, which is what Christ did when you think about it.

Wait for the book, I want you to have one, remind me when I get it out there in numbers (only have a few now, sending them off to Hollywood pals of pals), and I'll send you one free, cos I like your attitude :)

It ain't over yet my friend, there's still dessert :)
