Here's the rule: NEVER give Hillary the benefit of the doubt
Everyone was so moved by Hillary's closing speech last night, saying she'll be fine if she doesn't get the nomination. Everyone has raved about this. My initial, non-pundit filtered reaction: eye roll. My gut instinct told me this was more bullshitty calculation. But then later, I thought -- well maybe I am wrong. Maybe she is sincere.

NEWSFLASH: she was not being sincere. She is now actively helping out John McCain and it is SHAMEFUL:

Clinton Camp Pushes O-Bomber Links: Ignores Her Own Radical Ties

Clinton, Obama Spar on Ties to Radicals

The Hillary Clinton campaign pushed to reporters today stories about Barack Obama and his ties to former members of a radical domestic terrorist group -- but did not note that as president, Clinton's husband pardoned more than a dozen convicted violent radicals, including a member of the same group mentioned in the Obama stories.

"Wonder what the Republicans will do with this issue," mused Clinton spokesman Phil Singer in one e-mail to the media, containing a New York Sun article reporting a $200 contribution from William Ayers, a founding member of the 1970s group Weather Underground, to Obama in 2001.

In a separate e-mail, Singer forwarded an article from the Politico newspaper reporting on a 1995 event at a private home that brought Obama together with Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, another member of the radical group.

Opting to leave any attacks on the issue to the GOP may be wise, as attacks from Clinton could backfire. In his final day in office, President Clinton pardoned another one-time member of the Weather Underground, Susan L. Rosenberg, after she had served 16 years in prison on federal charges.

Rosenberg had been arrested in 1984 while unloading 740 pounds of dynamite, a submachine gun and other weapons from the back of a car.

...

And in 1999, President Clinton also pardoned 16 violent Puerto Rican nationalists responsible for more than 100 bombings of U.S. political and military installations, after they promised to renounce violence.

Both a dirty despicable attack AND boneheaded, since it unearthed more embarrassing history of the Clinton administration. Sorry, but this is not Mark Penn's fault. Who HIRED Mark Penn? Who continues to EMPLOY Mark Penn? I'm sorry, but I am not falling for Hillary's multiple personalities. "Cold and calculated" is not a right wing talking point. It's the truth.

1. two-faced.
That's what we used to call people like this. Doesn't she understand what she's doing--to both of them?

2. I'm rapidly losing what little respect I had left for her.
She's looking more and more like a female, Democratic version of Bush.

Hillary's 15 minutes are just about up.

3. Double-true in view of what happened today
I guess that at the (hopefully last) debate on Tuesday we will not see any repeat perfromance about how proud she is to share the stage with Obama. Seems they decided to go out scratching and clawing after all.

4. After today, I never will -
I was on who wondered - more because it was so stupid, than because it was so nasty - if that hit piece could have been done without her. Today's rant IS HRC and it is clear that she is willing to try to destroy Obama's credibility. All she is doing is destroying the respect many still had for her.

She entered a race with everything stacked in her favor and is losing. I can't imagine how she thinks helping McCain if she can't win helps - it is absolutely unlikely that she could win in 2012 if McCain defeats Obama. Neither she or Bill will have the support they had this year. There is no way she could get the nomination - her negatives in the Democratic party may exceed those of moderate Republicans (like Olympia Snowe) by then.

5. we need only think back to 2006
when she turned on JK with that comment--you know the one--to see the real Hillary. We get fooled temporarily because she can act so sweet, so gracious. But we have to remember that this nasty Hillary is the real one, sorry to say.

My paper carried a column today by a guy named Dick Polman from the Philadelphia Inquirer. About Hillary, titled, "Lose gracefully, or Win ugly?" I'd say a third option would be to "Lose ugly".
