ABOARD THE CLINTON PRESS PLANE – Before taking off to New York late Sunday night, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton hailed the New York football Giants and made a few quips about Senator Barack Obama and the people of Massachusetts, who vote on Feb. 5.

Told that Mr. Obama was supporting the Patriots – the home team of his supporters Edward M. Kennedy, John Kerry, and Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, Mrs. Clinton grinned and said, “Hm, I wonder why.”

And reminded that she had two campaign stops in Massachusetts on Monday, she said: “They can redeem themselves on Tuesday – they can vote for a winner.”

Otherwise she took the Giants’ victory as tidings of things to come.

“Well, I think this is a real omen,” she said.

2. the lesson I draw from the SuperBowl is different from HRC
the way I see it, the Patriots' loss teaches us that the "inevitable" is NOT inevitable. Even as a football ignoramus, I could feel that the Patriots were going to lose pretty early on.
So I see the Patriots' loss as a good omen for Obama.

5. She should know better than to rub our faces in a loss
Boston is a big sports town, and she may actually lose votes here in MA if that quote gets around. Dumb reason to change your vote, but perhaps she doesn't know how loyal sports fans around here are.

6. Shows you I could never be a Clinton supporter
I find I can't use it to try to turn people against her after all! It just doesn't seem right. However, I can't help hoping word does get around! :-)

Wow! This is a stunning reversal. Sen. Obama was at 11% in some poll just a few weeks ago.

8. How does it feel on the ground?
Is there any sense of which way this is leaning with the people you know? Why are older people stuck on the Clintons?

9. I don't know. Other polls still show her in the lead. Plus I don't trust
polls for this 2008 race.

I agree with Markos:

"Irrational Exuberance"

I still think Hillary will win the big states tomorrow, and quite a lot of the smaller states (Obama will win GA and IL). The point is to come close and get a lot of delegates. I just remember before NH, and we thought he was going to win, and we didn't. I know that the Suffolk poll got that one right, but it doesn't mean they got it right this time.

I just see danger in getting too excited.
