"high-strung"
Are you what people call "high-strung"?

Does that term offend you? Or just piss you off?

When people - who KNOW that you like a routine/schedule - and also know that you remember EXACTLY what was said when and by whom -

change plans and say - "oh I never said that." or "I don't know where you got THAT from." "Relax, you're just too high strung. "

When you KNOW they said 8:00 pm - and then they call and say - oh - 2 o'clock. We'll be there at 2 - and you remember the whole damn initial conversation and they deny it. :grr:

Not that it really matters THAT much - it's just that - I'm not prepared. Mentally or physically (house, etc) for a 2:00 show up time.

Especially when the NSETBE - will invariably comment on my lack of housekeeping ability, etc. He makes me nervous. I get edgy when he's around. Waiting for the subtle and not-so-subtle insults. Waiting for the complaints. Waiting for the jibes.

And another thing . . . (not this conversation, but other ones!)

It REALLY pisses me off when I'm having a perfectly NORMAL conversation on MY end of a phone - and they start yelling ' CALM DOWN!! CALM DOWN!! And I AM being perfectly calm. But their screaming of things like 'CALM DOWN' only serves to jazz me up and make me start being "not calm" - so then they get all smug and justified that I'm 'losing it'.

:sigh:

Sometimes I think he does it on purpose. Sometimes it's like he's playing a role on the other end of the phone to which I am not privvy.

Do you ever feel that way?
