The swift boats of a certain candidate told us Edwards had drastically changed since 2004 that he was not a populist until his 2008 run. Listen to a speech from the "old" Edwards and decide for yourself. The truth is he was always a populist and his swift boat captains in the blogosphere deliberately lied about that fact.
