1. Not a farewell speech. Notice how Napolitano avoids mentioning George W. Bush.
Edited on Sat Nov-03-07 09:41 PM by Eric J in MN
In his version, BUSH didn't sign the Patriot Act.

"The Patriot Act was signed into law" by some unnamed person.

The Patriot Act is the fault of the "power-hungry bureaucrats in DC." Not Bush, not Cheney, not Senators, not Congressmen, but those darn bureaucrats (unelected officials), according to Napolitano.

5. Yes. Andrew Napolitano should blame Bush, Democratic Senators, Republican Senators, etc.
...not bureaucrats.

2. Nah they're hedging their bets against a Dem in the white house
at which point they will start arguing against a strong executive branch and insist that the patriot act gives the president too much power. And if you think they are getting screechy about the first amendment just wait until you hear what they're gonna say about the second amendment.

4. Surprised they aired this...
Although, as mentioned, there is a glaring omission as to the architects of the Patriot Act.

6. huh? what? fox news???
Umm... what on earth... did the world turn upside down while I wasn't looking? Suddenly the people who are as responsible for people being sheep as the churches and the republicans are saying that people are sheep??? subliminal messages? tell people they're sheep and they'll be sheep?

I'm really confused by this video.

I agree with the person who said it's the repubs getting ready to get rid of the patriot act as soon as there's a democratic president. I'm willing to bet any dem voted in will be happy to get rid of it but the repubs want to take no credit for instituting it and all the credit for getting rid of it... lol cake and eat it too.

I found it fairly laughable that the guy mentioned franklin's line.. err at least I've always heard it quoted as from benjamin franklin, I could be wrong. He acted like he made it up.

Something disturbing about seeing a foaming-at-the-mouth republican/fox news dude taking a dem speech about rights and adding "god given" in there and taking credit for the whole thing. egh.

9. Yeah, he seemed to have plagiarized the "safety over liberty results in neither" line.

7. This guy has me all confused now....
Was this really on the fascist propaganda network?? Did they fall asleep or leave the mic on while they were in the bano? I don't believe this guy said this on that station. He has me all confused now. It's almost like there was a "mini-revolution" in vannity's closet.

8. It's the twilight zone.
But as mentioned, in reality, it is a hedge- a filthy slimy deceitful hedge. Fuckers.

Do not let them take California. Do anything you can, success is the only option.

10. are you guys always like this?
I'm betting FNC let him promote The Constitution in Exile: How the Federal Government Has Seized Power by Rewriting the Supreme Law of the Land in 2006, and Constitutional Chaos: What Happens When the Government Breaks its Own Laws in 2004, as well.

His being the on-air senior judicial analyst there probably has something more to do about that than anything else, you know :eyes:

Maybe their numbers are so far down they need to reel in some lefties with this kind of bait. Not biting. They are still owned by the same corps, nothing has changed.
Plus Olbermann is killing them in the ratings, its all about $$$$$$$.

15. I wonder how this will shore up with Fox's "#1 rated prime time show host"?
According to Bill O'Reilly:

At this point, O'Reilly was looking bad so he turned on his self righteous voice of outrage attacking Redford for saying we lost sacred rights." He's lying to the whole world. He's a liar."

http://www.newshounds.us/2007/10/27/robert_redford_adde...

O'Reilly often challenges guests to "name just one right we've lost through th Patriot Act". I wonder if the judge will appear again on the show, since he seems prepared to offer an answer.
