Given that the officers apparently had expectations of violence before it occurred ("My nightstick is gonna get a workout tonight"), one might wonder if agents provocateurs had indeed been planted among the protesters with orders to try to force the barriers and justify the police riot. And that this information had been disseminated to the interested parties with clubs.
