2 blocks from Wall St. the next American revolution has begun. It is an experiment in direct democracy that has begun to spring up all over the country. Soon there will be occupations of public space featuring nonhierarchical consensus based decision making and a new way to hold corporations and politicians accountable for their actions. join us on Wall St. or in your city, join us on the live stream. Get off the coach and into the streets.

Occupations are forming in DC, LA, Chicago, Cleveland and San Francisco. there are probably more that I don't yet know of.

here is the daily schedule of events
8-9am: Morning Circle
9-10am: March to Wall Street for the ringing of the opening bell
10-1pm: Break/Lunch
1-3:30pm: General Assembly
3:30-4:30: Second March to Wall Street for the ringing of the closing bell
4:30-7pm: Open space for Music, Teach-ins, Games, and Committee Break-out
Discussion
7-9pm: General Assembly

3. What was that leader/response sequence at the beginning?
I played the clip twice and still couldn't make out what they were saying.

8. They do that because the cops won't allow amplification
So whoever is speaking says a phrase and then a dozen people behind them repeat it in unison.

It's still hard to make out some of it -- but once you realize it's the same thing being repeated, it gets a little easier.

4. Does it look bigger this morning
to anyone besides me? The momentum seems to be growing on the ground. It is definitely growing in cyberspace.

6. really?
I dunno if hula hoops and breasts are the best way to make your point or take your stand. This looks more like a burning man festival than a news worthy protest and is definitely cause for many people to not attend and stand with the others.

And yeah, what was going on in the beginning? It sounded like some sort of oath but I would love to know what is being recited.

7. I agree...
and after 15 years in the live music industry...I can't even take the Neo-Hippies seriously.

The Paleo-Hippies...they stood for something. Todays Neo-Hippy stands for nothing. They trash Red Rocks for every hippy show. Exponentially more dirty in the surrounding park after hippy shows than any other type of shows. They also show up with hordes of dogs. The city always has to deal with hundreds of abandoned dogs after hippy shows.

I want to see more normal young people out there. Not bikinis. Not silly patchwork clothing. Not white kids of rich parents wearing dreadlocks. Not hula hoops. They sully every movement they touch.

10. Agreed. Neo-Hippies are lame.
They don't take a clear stance and they have even worse fashion. They are detached from the daily lives of most Americans. Wake me up when it's May Day 2012.

9. this was
this was an hour or 2 out of a 7 day protest

in the beginning they are using "the people's microphone" at a general assenbly to disseminate legal information about being snatched by cops while sleeping in the middle of the night.
