It's been nearly six months since NATO launched airstrikes on Libya. Still there is no answer on if the US has a legal reason to involve itself in Libya. Denis Kucinich, a senator from Ohio, raised questions about what was the CIA's role in fueling the conflict. Jack Rice, former CIA officer and journalist, speaks to RT's Lauren Lyster

1. Well of course the CIA is involved

I just assumed from the beginning that CIA and probably MI5 and maybe some French intelligence was involved. Our guys go in and determine who the key players are going to be among the rebels, NATO softens up the targets and boom we have a revolution taking over the government in 6 months.

But let's take a look at how the Bush administration handled these kinds of operations. The get us in two wars with massive amounts of soldiers on the ground. Develop a "coalition of the willing" which is primarily us and the UK along with some third world countries, and now we have been bogged down in a quagmire for 10 years that no one can figure out how to get out of.

In comparison the Obama administration develops a coalition of real world powers that we coordinate with, implements the plan and within six months has brought the plan to fruition without one American solider on the ground.

But to speculate as to if there was CIA involvement or not is just naive. Of course there was, this is how America, an imperialist nation, has done things for over a hundred years, usually with the rational that we are protecting our national interest or defending democracy, (Vietnam, Iraq, etc), or some other such bull. This is who and what we are.
