1. The Progressive ideas put forward by
the 'Gang of 70' in Congress and by the only Progressive on the Deficit Commission.

But sadly, they were ignored.

2. Austerity and stop austerity
When the top 1% have to walk because there is no FAA to clear their jet to take off; when the top 1% have to cook their own food because the restaurants are all shut down; when the top 1% have to rip out their lawns and grow their own food because the transportation system has become unreliable. When the top 1% have it as rough as the bottom 99%, only then, will things get better.

3. I don't believe

you understand how the wealthy live. Those things won't happen to the very top tier, at least not for a very long time. If there is no FAA there may be no commercial travel but the wealthy can take off and land safely in their own private airplanes - there will be little in the way of air traffic to affect their safety. They have gardeners if they need to grow their own food. They have cooks and maids to make their meals and keep their homes clean. They have security to keep their estates safe. If things really break down, that same staff may not get paid, but they still would live in relative comfort and safety with plenty of food so they'd stay. Does all this sound familiar? Think old South, plantations, and slavery.

5. Oh, I've seen how they live
But they DO need a paved runway to land a jet; an unmaintained runway does hell to those engines. Along with those cooks and gardeners, they will also need a private army to keep away the hordes. Hordes that, by the way, have "the right to keep and bear arms". The Nat Turners of this century will be a little better organized. Think Mexican drug cartels.

8. K&R I think the most important observation is that the worker bees
in Greece have stood up saying the debt is not their debt. The same thing is now happening in Iceland. I read yesterday either on or thru DU that Iceland's new gov't has sided with the people saying the same things as the Greeks. To clean up Iceland's financial troubles it was proposed that each citizen pay $130.00 per month for the next fifteen years at 5.5% interest! Probably the straw that broke the camel's back?

I believe our struggle should go along these same lines but I also think that will be most difficult here because of the size of our country....at best it will take much longer and I fear we don't have enough time. On that cheery note....
