A surge of private sector layoffs in July may suggest that the American recovery is stalling, according to reports. And former top White House Economist Larry Summers warns of "at least a 1-in-3 chance" of falling back into recession. Keith sits down with New York Times columnist Paul Krugman to discuss what's next for the U.S. economy.

Tune in Weeknights at 8:00/7:00c on Current TV

1. I agree that on the economy, President Obama is much
like the "second coming of Herbert Hoover.

My only prayer is that next, we will have a "second coming of FDR."

2. "The second coming of Herbert Hoover"
What a nightmare. And we thought he would be another FDR.
Did we ever blow it.

Thanks for posting.

7. Krugman says the misstatements from Republicans...
...are because they live in an alternate reality. I say their misstatements are outright, conscious lies because they know it works and they will make whatever statement needs to be made to support their position. In other words, they are pathological liars with evil intent and that is fundamentally WHO they are.

14. The fuck they don't work.
And just what Liberal economic plans and strategies have been implemented or in use since.... oh.... 1980? It's been Supply Side Jesus for 30 years. What Liberal ideas have lead us here? Clinton spread a thin icing of Liberal economics on some things and we ended up with a surplus. Imagine a wholesale Liberal approach.

10. K+R Keith and Krugman, two rational minds

13. Krugman is right
Krugman is right about the economics.
Krugman is right about comparing today to FDR in 1937.

Gingrich does not have the sense to get out of a shower of rain.

15. Interesting that Hoover followed an 8 to 10 year time of lawlessness also.
though this time Obama might lead the way to a far more destructive force if he doesn't get reelected.
