2. Yeah, but it's the truth. Anything you send through Google... any of their services you use...
...they are reading, collecting, and reselling your personal data.

Free services are not free.

3. No they are not.
But nice try.

The ad even says - they are skimming. When I do a ctrl F on a massive document im not reading it, im getting a search response, matching that to the ads. Big deal man - seriously.

People are posting all of their crap on facebook, doing all their communications on it, photos etc WITH FACE RECOGNITION, and mroe ads than you can poke a stick at with the most customised advertising possible - and not a friggen peep.

All your data is being logged at your ISP and phone exchange - when I see somone worry about that - we can talk about this.

Whoever posted this ad for microsoft I would suggest has an agenda and should be looked at by the mods - blatant product promotion - might as well have a beer ad there.

6. Different agencies. MS is _ _ _ and GOOGLE is a _ _ _ proprietary,
Otherwise, I agree with you. They look at what they want to -- 99.97% of what people think is private is just white noise.

4. Yes, I know that. because I can read an agreement.
For what I use gmail for I could care less who reads it.

I think it is rather funny as hell that a video that criticizes Google for their ad generation processes, which they clearly state in their agreements, is really just an ad for a competitive and most assuredly not free product.

8. So go read Microsoft's EULAs. Paid services are not free either.
The EULA that covers my university using Microsoft for their email allows Microsoft to do anything that's legal to do with the student's email. No more specifics than that - if it's legal, then Microsoft may do it. Of course, they take ten-plus pages of fine print to say this.

9. They do NOT read your email or collect anything from it.
They way they make money is off the ads they server in the sidebar when you read the email.

10. I have a test gmail account that is only used from my email to my other emails.
There is ZERO spam in it. Your spam is most likely generated from flash cookies collecting your info from other sites. Lots of mp3, torrent, porn, and book sites collect that.

11. Everything online is susceptible
Edited on Fri Jul-29-11 11:44 AM by wxgeek7
Just face it, EVERYTHING "online" is suceptible to being searched by something, or someone else, either legally or illegally. It's one of the great wonders of the INTERnet. There really should be no expectation of privacy, or at most a very minimal one.

But, there's always the ol'snail mail :)

13. Everything on the web.....
...is just a pitch, hanging right in the center of the strike zone, waiting to be whacked.
