US blows budget on Libya while facing economic crisis

Spaniards are saying that they got thrown into war under pressure from Washington — a war which is costing Spain the money it doesn't have and is leaving their citizens piping mad as a result. While the US is continuing its over-budget mission against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi without too much resistance at home, America isn't able to pay its bills. David Swanson, campaigner for progressive organization Roots Action, explains why there is this reaction of war in Spain but not in the States.

1. To ME, this is the ultimate hypocrisy

fighting over cuts to domestic spending, and yet......... NO ONE EVER mentions the blOATed military outlay. NO ONE! It's as if we're desperately trying to keep a room stocked with bananas while oblivious to the fact that there's a ravenous tribe of chimps living in the banana storage room, and they're constantly devouring the banana stock. NO ONE seems to notice that the bananas are disappearing faster than we can replenish them - because of the visible (but somehow INvisible) band of chimps.

EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY! the bananas are running low! We're gonna have to start rationing them if we hope to have any to squeak by on!
