8. I've noticed that Maddow and Shultz have gotten even more aggressive on their shows since Olbermann
left the network. So, this leads me to believe that his joining Current TV has actually started a BIDDING WAR for the left/progressive viewers! HAH! I love it!

I was expecting Olbermann's departure from MSNBC to open the field for them to swing to the right, and force Maddow and Shultz to tone DOWN their anti-GOP rhetoric, but the opposite appears to be happening, and I couldn't be more happy about it.

As for the conflict in time slots, it doesn't matter to me given that I watch all three of them on the internet anyway.

15. Maddow, Schultz etc will be given free rein only for as long as
MSNBC can tolerate it, and will end whenever it no longer serves their objectives or one of the hosts affronts them in some manner. Bound to happen.
Imho Current is a new hope for progressive voices on cable.

7. Makes you wonder...
what constraints are place on Rachel, Ed and Lawrence, and if that would help to convince them to jump ship when their contracts expire.

6. Olbermann was smart, had Moulitsas come onto his show
to tell people about some of the constraints Olbermann was working under at MSNBC and Olbermann didn't have to say a word, just sit there and nod sagely. He fulfilled the letter of his non disclosure deal (and you know there had to be one) while violating the hell out of its spirit.

I just wonder if Morning Joke had anything to say about this or if he'll wait until tomorrow when Ailes or Limbaugh has told him how to think about it.

10. I don't think Scarborough is drinking the Ailes koolaid, but
five bucks says he won't ever mention this on his own show.

And yes, I agree with the other commenter that this was a very clever way to get around his (putative) non-disclosure agreement. Having somebody else on his show to explain it all.

9. Okay, ARE YOU LISTENING AL GORE? Here's all you have to do.
Now, go out and hire Papantonio and Hartman to do 3 hours each on Current TV, throw in some extra News and talk shows, merge or absorb Talking Points Memo, and THEN you've got a NETWORK!

11. Grab Sam Seder and Nicole Sandler, too
And possibly Norman Goldman.

Although, Norman has a syndicated radio show, I know Seder and Sandler are doing internet broadcasts that are incredible and intelligent.

13. How to succeed....
And don't forget to use the FOX model against them: give the show away free in key markets so it is included in basic services. Go Keith!

14. I don't have cable or satellite, so I have to stream next day vids
Edited on Tue Jun-21-11 10:30 PM by 2banon
I wish Current would stream live..like DemocracyNow and other daily news shows.. oh well..

I was stunned to learn that Scarbourough had veto power over guests list on other shows. I wonder what his off camera position is with MSNBC.. come to think of it, he and blondie are so stupid, so incredibably lame, it could only be 'behind the scenes power' that allowed him to have a morning show in te first place, and keep it so long, imo.
