MSNBC host Cenk Uygur speaks with George Washington University professor Jeffrey Rosen on Senator Harry Reid strongly supporting the Patriot Act despite the fact that he opposed it in 2005. Meanwhile Tea Party favorite Rand Paul (R-KY) opposed re-authorization.

1. Ignorance is bliss
As you point out, most people probably don't know what's in the Patriot Act. Bush and his clowns used 9/11 as leverage to force this police-state tool through at a time when everyone who questioned it was considered a traitor. And now Obama and his hapless friend Hardball Harry believe this scores them points in national security, where Dems have traditionally been considered weak. The name itself is misleading, Patriot Act. It should be renamed with Citizens Eavesdropping Act, or Privacy Invasion Act. Plus, these types of important votes are often taken when no one is watching because their attention has been diverted to other nonsense. We should highlight every yes vote, like we do with Kill-Medicare and Big Oil subsidy votes, to constantly remind us where our lawmakers stand. Then we should vote every one of those clowns, Dems or Republicans, out.

3. spot-on.
It is disgusting that this thing is called the "patriot" act. There is nothing patriotic about it. It is a monicker used solely to make it so you can't vote against it. "What?!?! You are against the Patriot act?!?! Who could be against Patriotism?!?!"

It is so sad that most people are deluded by this kind of thing.

2. Just what freedoms are we fighting to protect if we're so
willing to just hand them back?
