My background in studying the markets tells me that if we refuse to raise the debt ceiling our creditors will look on that favorably.

That makes sense, let me call up my credit card company and tell them I want a higher credit limit and better interest rate as I will no longer be paying any of my bills.

It looks like Fox News is starting the push to have social security gutted. In this same interview she had on a Democrat from the Clinton administration openly advocating raising the social security retirement age.

7. The market responds favorably when "belt tightening" means shedding jobs...

...because it doesn't matter what those employees did for the company or what their paychecks did for the economy, they're just focused on the equation of fewer paychecks = more profit.

Not so great for the long term, but long-term thinking "to promote the general welfare" is not what Fox does.
