As Libya's opposition fighters push west, doctors are uncovering more victims from the frontline.

Several doctors say they have found Viagra tablets and condoms in the pockets of dead pro-Gaddafi fighters, alleging that they were using rape as a weapon of war.

They say they have been treating female rape survivors who were allied with pro-democracy forces.

Furthermore, 175 people, including doctors, have been reported missing from Ajdabiya, and many have now been found to have been killed.

Al Jazeera English's Sue Turton reports from Ajdabiya.

1. There have been some smears against the rebels.
They were lying in beds in a guarded room in a hospital in Benghazi, sleeping, praying and reflecting on how they ended up being cared for by a compassionate enemy that in no way resembled Al-Qaeda, Israel's Mossad or the foreign terrorists Kadhafi's officers had said awaited them.

society. I'm not saying it's right - not at all - but what's different about Libya?

3. This is a report on what has been/is happening in Libya

Different men raping different women during a different conflict/war.

Every single time a woman is raped it is a different kind of hell she is being put through.

That's what's "different".

6. of course it is used in every conflict--that's pointing out the obvious
Does that mean it doesn't warrant coverage?

I'm not quite yet ready to be jaded, disinterested and dismissive of something so vile and horrible as rape just because it's just one more war going on, this time in Libya.
