3. the poor kid was in a tough situation. you can't tell on the kids or it will get worse.
i bet if there hadn't been video then it would have been he said he said... and the casey kid was bigger so people would think HE was the bully. i think it is worth the suspension to defend himself. I was bullied as a kid and people can say to ignore it and it's hard when it is every day and you have to see these people every day!!

It's interesting that this comes out now when there was just that bullying awareness thing recently. You want to tell people fighting is wrong, but this casey kid did not beat the crap out of the bully.... he defended himself and then walked away. i hope they will stop bullying him now.

4. Great Video
My childhood mirrors Casey's somewhat.

I had a few snap moments as well. No camera phones back then.

I has PTSD from it, years after High School.

8. This story touched me as it did so many others
I was about 7 years old when I planted a small garden in the back yard. Two kids from down the street, brother and sister, came down one day, trampled the plants I had nurtured for 4 weeks and chanted "Kurty the Planter. Kurty the Planter..." And just last monday my neighbor's contractor parked on top of the one little lonely rose bush out back. He drove back and forth across the flower bed to get his truck into position before coming to a stop on top of the rose bush. It triggered me. It really was an accident on his part because the flower bed doesn't look like much right now but he didn't make any effort NOT to do it. Verbally I went ballistic, not really at him, more at the situation, like "Can't I have some frickin' happiness? or some mercy?" It scared him and he drove off and called my neighbor. (she told me he didn't do any damage and she is not paying for it -- we'll see about that)

My point is this stuff goes deep.

Great vid. I have real respect for him and his family after watching that.

7. Bullies only respond to STRENGTH. Talking doesn't help much. You need to DEFEAT them.

9. "People get bullied all the time..."
The hate, the aggression, the anger that drives bullying behavior is anathema to most of us. It's past time to send a clear message to all bullies everywhere: NO MORE. (That especially includes YOU, Dick Cheney.)

Seems good hearted, but a sad case.

12. The right to be let alone
"They: The makers of the Constitution: conferred,
as against the government, the right to be let alone --
the most comprehensive of rights and
the right most valued by civilized men."

13. I applaud Casey

He had no one. His friends abandoned him to be bullied.

The school had to have known--or should have known, given the nature of children--that bullying is a reality and is going on in their school. Casey's dad should sue the school board, if they have that kind of redress in australia.

Now, the bully is the scourge of the ether world, as he should be, little shit. Walk that off, boy.

and I hate the justification of "people get bullied all the time"--THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT OR OK. It's called harassment and predation.

14.  As Long as there are children, there are going to be bullies
I learned in third grade that you have to stand up to people who get their kicks out of trying to make you feel bad about yourself. Being a girl, they didn't expect the beat down and I didn't mess around. I knew I had to have an "equalizer" to make my point, so a metal lunch box became one, another time the ball and chain at the end of a tether ball pole. I got sent home both times but these bullies never messed with me again. So good for this little boy. No one has to take it, not child on child, not adult on child, not adult on adult.

15. Where
Where were the teachers? How does a kid like this get taped to a pole and bullied every day without a single teacher being aware of it? When I was in school teachers knew when I had not enough sleep or had a problem. I think the faculty as this school should be on high alert and be investigated.

16. I was bullied in the 5th grade
and I told the teacher, the councilor. I hated it there. I started talking about attacking the students to try to stop them. The councilor kept telling me that violence is not the answer. I stupidly listened to her. I kept telling them to do something about it and no one ever did. Finally one day I was angry about something that happened and she kept saying that violence is not the answer. I finally told her "I don't need your permission, respect, or approval. Since you won't do anything about it, I will."
She balked at that. Then the next day I was walking and this guy was tailing me outside berating me for some kind of thing and I tripped him and kicked him twice in the face. His friends beat me up, but he never messed with me again.

17. Well
We've heard from the bully's Mom and the victim and his family. I want to hear from the school faculty.I also want someone to explain why someone defending themselves gets them suspended.

18. Yes, but be fair too. Teachers can't be everywhere every minute. And this needs to be REPORTED.
