"Nobody goes to jail," writes Matt Taibbi in the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine. "This is the mantra of the financial-crisis era, one that saw virtually every major bank and financial company on Wall Street embroiled in obscene criminal scandals that impoverished millions and collectively destroyed hundreds of billions, in fact, trillions of dollars of the world's wealth." In an interview with Democracy Now!, Taibbi explains how the American people have been defrauded by Wall Street investors and how the financial crisis is connected to the situations in states such as Wisconsin and Ohio.

Why Isn't Wall Street in Jail?
Financial crooks brought down the world's economy — but the feds are doing more to protect them than to prosecute them

2. Crimes of Intellectual Choice
The mental stumbling block, for most Americans, is that financial crimes don't feel real; you don't see the culprits waving guns in liquor stores or dragging coeds into bushes. But these frauds are worse than common robberies. They're crimes of intellectual choice, made by people who are already rich and who have every conceivable social advantage, acting on a simple, cynical calculation: Let's steal whatever we can, then dare the victims to find the juice to reclaim their money through a captive bureaucracy. They're attacking the very definition of property — which, after all, depends in part on a legal system that defends everyone's claims of ownership equally. When that definition becomes tenuous or conditional — when the state simply gives up on the notion of justice — this whole American Dream thing recedes even further from reality.

- Matt Taibbi

3. Dereliction of duty by the SEC and
the justice department. These thieves are using their ill gotten gains to fund the elections of people like this sleazy Walker in Wisconsin and Kasich in Ohio. Something really must be done about this before we slide fully into banana republic status.

5. Matt has done such an outstanding job
exposing the Wall St/bank corruption along with the fed that I don't see how any american could not understand or acknowledge what actually happened. Yet here we are 4 years later with the tea patsy's promoting them. Proof that watching Faux is damaging to our country.

6. Taibbi's work is so important
because almost no one from either party is willing to tell the truth about how Wall Street is destroying America.

8. Thanks Matt, and thanks Amy...
...another great segment laying it out in plain terms that we all can understand.

Matt doesn't just say the system is corrupt to the core, he connects the dots and shows us how.

Big K&R

9. Because all the judges.....
...the politicians, the prosecutors and the jailers themselves are all CORRUPT TO THE CORE. They're all beholden to the system of corrupted cash payments from Wall Street. Without which they have no careers at all. That's what Capitalism does. It's SOCIAL CANCER and the closer you get to it the more likely you'll be affected by it, or infected by it. Either way it'll kill you in the end. It kills all but the carriers of the disease.

- And that's why Wall Street isn't in jail......

11. Be forgiving of major crooks?
Are the American people dumb, or too religious? What the heck is the problem with punishing Wall Street for their crimes?

"If you (the DOj) get any of us in jail, we (mega-fraudstering banksters & HOSTAGE takers) will just "pull the plug" on all ATMs, credit-cards systems, and on, and on (everything), and YOU, our dear bought-and-sold pols, will be left to deal with the populace, you know, all these "lesser people" who THEN will come running to YOU, SCREAMING they WANT their money back "NOW," and AN IMMEDIATE ACCESS to their accounts, etc. And you know what? We ("criminals inc.") will have long flown away in our private jets to all our bought-and-sold FISCAL PARADISES where ALL THEIR MONEY IS... so eff off and DO AS WE SAY (like you always do...), m'kay?"!!

It comes to a point where there must not be too many other possibilities left...

Love Taibbi. He immersed himself into a new world to him of high finance and came out to show us what he found.

15. He needs to read the Dr Debug threads
on the ties between the financial wall street/insurance companies, CIA, covert ops, and other government agencies. Then he needs to read about the INSLAW/PROMIS case and the Department of Justice. That will give him the answer to his question, which is:

The U. S. is being run by organized crime...

18. In summary...
Wall Street isn't in jail because it owns the branch of government that creates the law, the branch of government that enforces the law, and the branch of government that interprets the law.

Next question.
