1. A moment of clarity for the channel
But I notice that he didn't call the guy on a couple points of bullshit especially Walker's tax cuts which caused the budget problem.

5. I thought he did better than most..
I would on occasions tune in to Shephard Smith for news reporting (when i was subscribed to cable/sat) because i couldn't stand hardball or cnn. he pretty much delivers the news as straight as it gets given who he works for, and i always appreciate his tone and general honesty. I'm amazed that he's able to keep employed there, he's an anomoly on that station, and he's a hell of a lot better than so many over at cnn. i appreciate that he tried to get the underpinning facts of what was at issue. I'm sorry that he was compelled to put this wsj corporate tool to try and discredit the point Smith was attempting to reiterate.

2. He sometimes surprises, as with his Katrina coverage

Meanwhile, the tool from the WSJ talks about "pulling the lens back". He apparently doesn't like how the story is appearing up close, where you can make out the facts. I loved that Smith kept saying "but not Wisconsin" when Bussey kept conflating it with states that have serious budget problems.

4. Smith is trying to get Walker off the hook ....
while saying, "but not Wisconsin" to me, it means Wisconsin can go back to normal but the other states, not so much.

In other words they may be throwing Walker under the bus. So they can get this through in the other states.
