1. I think it might be a mistake to
attribute the "opinions" expressed and illustrated by Beck as his or as the product of an individual, lunatic mind.

It is my opinion that we are seeing a scripted, (or at least a list of bullet-points) method that serves two purposes. The first is that it presents pure propaganda designed to have a specific impact on politics and consent. The second, is to inject toxic and useless ideas into the mainstream in order to both maintain a certain kind of base and to support and increase divisiveness.

If that is the case, then Beck is doing a fine job, both in his ADD ramblings and in keeping attention off the Fox agenda and who is machinating the agitprop behind the scenes for a specific purpose.

Actors neither have to write the script nor do they have to believe or agree with the views of the character they portray. They get paid for that. Rush Limbaugh falls into this category, as well. It is an industry with a purpose that surpasses the superficial aspects of the show.

2. "We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be."
From http://www.avclub.com/articles/15-things-kurt-vonnegut-said-better-than-anyone-el,1858/|15 Things Kurt Vonnegut Said Better Than Anyone Else Ever Has Or Will>:

15. "We must be careful about what we pretend to be."

In Mother Night, apolitical expatriate American playwright Howard W. Campbell, Jr. refashions himself as a Nazi propagandist in order to pass coded messages on to the U.S. generals and preserve his marriage to a German woman—their "nation of two," as he calls it. But in serving multiple masters, Campbell ends up ruining his life and becoming an unwitting inspiration to bigots. In his 1966 introduction to the paperback edition, Vonnegut underlines Mother Night's moral: "We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." That lesson springs to mind every time a comedian whose shtick relies on hoaxes and audience-baiting—or a political pundit who traffics in shock and hyperbole—gets hauled in front of the court of public opinion for pushing the act too far. Why can't people just say what they mean? It's a question Don Imus and Michael Richards—and maybe someday Ann Coulter—must ask themselves on their many sleepless nights.

6. Good analysis
Beck isn't being a rogue lunatic with his act -- he's doing what he's being paid for.

3. I don't think Beck is savvy enough
to come up with all this shit. He's gotta have writers planning and scripting all this. He can't just be rattling all this off after watching a few news broadcasts. This AND a radio program every day? Beck's just a glorified carnival barker. Obviously good at his craft if you can ignore the preposterousness of it all.

7. I agree. Beck's got writers and handlers out the wazoo.
Don't forget about all the books he gets to put his name on. A new one gets pumped out about every other month or so. There's a whole industry built around this idiot, and it all depends on him running his mouth on behalf of his right wing corporate masters.

4. Beck's motivation: Make money. Make more, more money.
by scaring the crap out of Grandma and the lower intelligence people of this nation.

Scare the crap out of them, then ask them to buy gold.
