1. I wish Wolf Blitzer would shut the fuck up. Replace him with a giant canteloupe and silence.
Pause on the canteloupe for the number of seconds it would have taken Blitz to ask the question, then move to the people being interviewed.

it would be a hell of a lot more entertaining, and wouldn't piss me off.

I was so happy the day he was on Jeopardy and ended up at -$4000 and got a mercy $1000 so he could play the final round. Which, of course, he failed.

Just like all the "newscasters" who were on celebrity Jeopardy last year failed, except Witz Bolfer failed most excellently and wondrously.

6. Notice that WB FAILS to mention that AYN RAND is on Laughner's reading list too. Do you think
CNN told him not to include "We the Living" in the list that he cites?

8. The false equivalency narrative
equating violence on the right with equal violence on the left has begun. I'm surprised it took this long. Apparently, the shooter is a right wing leftist. Didn't he have works of Marx and Hitler on the same bookshelf? CNN is always first out of the gate with false equivalency narratives and Blitzer is its champion thoroughbred.

11. Several things...
Thanks for posting items such as this so I don't have to view hours of insipid repetitious "coverage" on any news network.
I have known people who worked in the news media and they are often dumb on any issue except what is in front of them on their cue cards and liner notes, really narrow focused and ignorant. Not at all uncommon.

The Congresswomen and the Federal Judge were terrible examples of who these people hate, neither was overtly left wing or threatening in any way. And the members of the public who died, my heart felt condolences go out to their families, they had nothing to do with it except being there. The nine year old will be nine forever. The Protestant Minister shielded his Wife and was shot and killed. Get me started,,,

And as some have already pointed out the recent attacks of various types all over the country are exclusively the work of the right wing hate machine. I can't recall any fueled from the left. If anyone knows of any please point it out here.

It will be interesting to hear, though I won't, the twirling and spinning and twisting that will occur on the right wing hate radio shows tomorrow... The correct thing to do is publish the accounts of companies that advertise on those media outlets and stop using their services.

Vote with your feet. The court of "Public Opinion" is not a "Court Of Law" we can take matters into our own hands and not support the purveyors of hate. (But it will be hard to not wear Lycra, which is owned by the Koch Brothers.)

Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 04:11 PM by AsahinaKimi
When Sherrif Dupnik was 100% correct. This was a political Assassination, and I am sure that he would not have said what he did, if there were not evidence to back him up. For all we know, the shooter was a Palin fan.

13. how can she say categorically like that
that there is no connection between palin and the shooter. that there is no evidence that palin's crosshairs inspired the shooter. we don't know that. we don't know that either way. so her certitude, whoever she is, the longhaired one, is a bit premature.
fucking media.

CNN for fear Wolf et al would pop up suddenly even while taking care to watch programs bearing some resemblance to reality, like Anderson Cooper.

19. Contradictions..
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 09:35 PM by LandR
Couple of bimbos who blindly defend Palin. While Palin indeed is not directly connected or meant to incite violence, that was not the charge. The issue is political bigotry and Palin's cross hair map is a perfect example of an uncivilized & irresponsible discourse.

Also, how can they say they aren't sure if Loughner is far left, far right, or just mentally unstable? Clearly, we can rule out the far left. Loughner lists Mein Kampf as one of his favorite books, as well as a concern about a gold standard - do you hear anyone on the left arguing for a gold standard? Of course not because only naive right wingers argue for a gold standard (there isn't enough gold in the world to account for all of the wealth).

This video is yet another example of a despicable 24/7 news cycle that only distorts the discourse. They don't care about providing worthwhile information, only meeting their quota. This is horrible journalism and doesn't even qualify as infotainment.
