1. It's still an issue, why?
Because some scientist got sick and wanted to deny a freedom of information act request to some pestering denial peddler?

There's too many half-truths and inaccuracies in your little video to list.

Unfortunately there's enough morons out there who will be swayed by it. Propaganda, even bad propaganda, has an effect. It's pathetic to watch, really.

It's like the IPCC reports......all the thousands of pages and thousands of peer-review studies and data and scientists that contribute to them....and someone finds one little inaccuracy like, oh...you can't make that time-line claim about Mount Fiji, and the whole report is suddenly questioned and the denial peddlers are screaming that the whole thing and the entire IPCC can no longer be trusted.

It's a political, PR game to the denial peddlers and the weak minded who cannot handle the reality that we're facing. Play on.

2. Standard Denialist Drivel
Funny how the denialist crowd uses the very same arguments that the tobacco companies used 20 years ago.

Actually it's not really funny since it's not only the same organizations it's the same damn people denying climate change that denied tobacco was harmful.

If you haven't seen it already I highly recommend seeing "Thank you for smoking" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBELC_vxqhI&feature=related ).

Denialists need no credible arguments. Lies, half-truths and their own assertions are sufficient to demonstrate that there's some "controversy" when actually there is none.

3. What is this? A report from the electronics section at Walmart? Enthusiastically unrecommended.

4. What motivates this so-called "hoax"?
Climate change deniers have never offered a plausible explanation of why, if global waming is a hoax, 97% of qualified atmospheric scientists from around the world agree that global warming is real and of human origin.

The best explanation that the deniers can come up with is that all those thousands of scientists are just angling for research grants. If so, then what motivates the agencies that award those grants?

Of course, anyone with minimal scientific credentials who offers his voice in support of the deniers will likely hit the jackpot of cash support from the fossil fuel industry -- as many have.

Then there are political/ideological motives for denial. For more, see my:

5. This is not what i
Edited on Sat Nov-20-10 03:11 PM by janewin
was expecting, instead of people asking for more debates and transparency of the IPCC methods, people are throwing the denial (as in Holocaust) slur. I know some of you guys want to believe that the debate is over but the hold outs are not all oil company shills and their voices are getting louder. All they are asking is for a debate before drastic actions are taken. I am not a global warming denier, am just a skeptic who is still waiting for the whole climate change picture to clear up.

7. Betcha still waiting ...
for the whole smoking being bad for you and those around you "debate" to clear up as well.

Denialist = Creationist = Republican = Ayn Rand sycophant

There are many places on the net that will welcome your pretense at "debate".

DU just doesn't happen to be one of them. Highly unrecommended.

8. yea
You call it pretense of a debate? I just want a debate of a real climate warming skeptic, and when I say climate skeptic I dont mean Glenn Beck or Senator Inhoff am talking about someone with a real degree in 4yr University. Open the books and put the word out there. We cannot rush into another huge policy change that would most definitely affect our fossil fuel dependent economy.

But then again, you probably reply by calling me a brown shirt, tea bagger who needs to go back to Africa where my kind is welcomed.

10. Associating "denial" with Holocaust is a deniers tactic
It's an attempt to portray them as the victims.

"Oh, you're say I'm denying, that I'm a denier...you're associating me with people who deny the Holocaust. That's mean! You're mean and not nice!"

Firstly, since when has the word "denial" been taken over and become the sole property of the Holocaust?
If we say someone is "in denial" about their alcoholism, are we slurring them? No, of course not.

so why would you call it a slur?

There is a similarity between Holocaust deniers and Global Warming deniers only in that they both stick to an illogical belief with no evidence.

But silly denial tactics designed to denigrate others aside, tell me....who are these "hold outs" that are not all "oil company shills." Name me a couple. I'll play.

I love how you deniers cry that you're not getting "a debate." just give you a debate...endless debate, and you'll be happy. It's not being debated, you bemoan! As if it's a question of what Las Vegas salad bar is the best. You are a denier, not a skeptic. Skeptic implies you have information or reason to question something...it implies intelligence and a critical eye. No, you are a denier. The truth is not important to you, only the argument which you will always wage regardless of what information exists.

6. Actually, if climategate taught us anything....
...there are more idiots on this Earth, than we thought!

Including this moron.

If these climate change skeptics found out how weather forecasts were made on a daily basis, they'd also be crying out forecastgate! Because when forecasts are made, there's almost always some bad data somewhere in the weather models and observational data. Weather forecasters (much like climatologists), discard and "massage" the data to what they believe to be correct, based on the larger mesoscale picture, and experience.

So when these idiots take snippets of these emails, and take them out of context/blow them wildy out of proportion (i.e. simple mistake), I laugh!

11. You laugh, but unfortunately this idiot and others like him have had an effect.
The PR machine that is the deniers tool took this and ran hard and fast. people like the OP throw this drivel up as if it's something legitimate, and then cry that there are many who are questioning Global Warming...their voices are getting louder (as if the morons haven't always been loud, the loudest, in fact) and poor them...all they ask for is "debate."

They want to debate things like past warming, wineries in England, and sun spots. Things that are understood and have no bearing on what's happening today. The truth is secondary though, that's the point. It's the debate itself they are interested in. Endless debate, requiring the same material to be explained over and over and over is their ideal goal.

9. standard operating procedure for anti science, creationist types
It's called the "Gish Gallop", named after the creationist who made it famous.
You throw out a word-salad of pseudo-sciencey sounding nonsense over 10 minutes or so,
that an honest critic knows is bullshit, but would take hours to unravel.

The fact that half a dozen official investigations, and hundreds of
journalistic ones, have turned up nothing, - in the minds of
deniers like this poster, just shows how good the conspiracy is.

This is nonsense, and you should be ashamed.
