1. Fact checking? Wow what a great concept!
If CNN keeps that up they might even qualify as a news organization.

3. Dam a lie

He is a SENATOR IN THE US SENAT MR Brown. And you ARE LAYING BIG TIME.. As a Cizisen of NORWAY I should know what I am talking about.... It not, I repeat _not_ that 80 procent of our schildren are out of wedloock.. We do have many who are not in wedloock thats true, but I do boubt his math big time... If you do the math, many americans have children out of wedloock to.. And interstning enough, many of them are in "republican states" where the "bible belt" is in big time the only comunity there...

If that is what the 8 hopefully Republican President candidate have their list on.. I really do hope american vote democratic.. Becouse this is just sick...

4. So what if Brownback's figure is even true
Norwegian babies are the best cared for in the world, Norway has the world's highest standard of living, and a low crime rate. Gee Mr. Brownback, maybe if more babies were cared for properly in the States, we wouldn't have all the problems we have, with abandoned or maltreated kids growing up poor or becoming criminals out of frustration.

WEL its still a lie... Even as Norway have a healtcaresystem the common peopole in US dont know about - or want to kill for getting if they haved the shance... It cost a lot in taxes, but I prefer to pay the taxes, and get healtcare allmoust free at sharge, then to be dead becouse my incurance company dont want to pay my medical bill..

And yes.. Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Island are indeed verry lucky to have a high standard of living, and low crime rates..

But, I am just a liberal "light-rede commie" so dont belive me... Even voted Arbeiderpartiet last time around... (the workers party)

And highest rates of out-of-wedlock births are in red states.

By the way, I love your bad English! :)

Ironic isent it, that the out of wedlock births are in the red states, and not in the blue states.. The "morale" in many of the red states must not be that comfortable for republicans..

I am verry sorry about my bad engelish.. I do my best, but i know my engelish is far from good, maybee verry bad even.. But I try the best I can then... I was never clever in forreign language at school I am afraid.. But I manage to stand in engelish, and that is not a bad thing to doing... Even as bad as it is...

If you find my engelish writing bad, you should try to hear my speak engelish.. You wil probely lafe your ayes out;)

14. Here is my try at it
Ha! Ufda! :7

Ha! Here is my attempt to write in Norwegian! I am cheating though - using an online translation site. I live in a town that has many people of Scandinavian descent and many are Norwegian. The Norwegians have a great history and from what I have read, were extraordinarily brave during World War 2 in the way you resisted the Nazi occupation. Please do not think that all Americans are alike. Some of us are are thinking individuals and care very much about the rest of the world - not just our own lives. Ufda!

10. State color? = load of crap
All this 'red-state,' 'blue-state' stuff is a bunch of crap. It's little more than a way to try and divide people further and further. Every state has far-right neoconservatives and far-left pro-socialists. Hell, city-to-city can be pretty different within a given state. The city I live in is a big time mix of conservative and liberal. Drive 30 minutes west and it gets very liberal. Drive another 45 minutes west and it gets pretty conservative. Drive another 2 hours west and it gets ultra liberal.

Politics has nothing to do with babies out of wedlock. It's about the demographics of people who live in an area. What do the demographic of the 'Bible-Belt' consist of?? Anyone care to answer BTW, I'm an atheist living in the Bible-Belt. There's plenty of us here too, so the preconceived notions that I see running around on this site are often bunk.

I agree. You know this a lot more than I do. So I have to stand correctet there;). America is a amazing place I guess. Have been there once, want to travel there again, but I dobt the USA of today is what is was in this days..It was in 1993 I guess.. In Florida.. I rembember when we was traveling by car to Orlando, and the Cape Carneval (that was my wish for the trip, to se where the Appollo 11 and the Spaceshuttle was going from, And I was so happy to manage to se it too;)..I even saw the american bald eagle there..) And I rembember too that the road we was driving on have allmout NO curves in 500km... You cant get that in NORWAY..

I dont know about the demograpic in the "bible belt". And I dont know how to produse a paper on it.. I do belive they have doing some paper on it, but I dobt they want to publizise this anytime soon.. It is vel protected in the government files i guess

Interesting.. It must be interesting to be a atheist in the thick of the "belt" if I have to say it.. The wiew many of us, who are outside of your country is that the bible belt is verry conservative for the most part. Lot of praising, and praying.. And you have a lot of smal church witch teatching maybee little odd to european.. Or is it just me who donsent get it?

13. lots of overgeneralizations
My point was that people make a big deal about small differences in the political moods of states here in the US. If a state's registered voter population is 45% Democrat and 50% Republican, it's viewed as a "red state." For example, my state has 2 US Senators that are Republican, but the Governor is a Democrat, as is the mayor of my city.

Politics can get a little muddy anyhow. Lots of Republicans aren't very conservative. And many of the new Democrats that got elected to Congress are more conservative than the other Democrats that have been in Congress for some time. Political parties have changed over time too. Essentially, the Democrats today are much more like the Republicans were in the 1800s and vice versa. I'm neither. I'm a Libertarian. Let's just say that a lot of my economic views and the role of govt will differ from nearly all the people who visit this site regularly.
Many have no idea who he is, but I'm a huge fan of Milton Friedman (R.I.P)
There is a growing number of people like myself in the US, as people get fed up with both Dems and GOP.

Being atheist in the Southeast US is no big deal. Most people profess to be more religious than they really are, no matter where you go in the US. If I had to guess, I'd say that across the US, perhaps 7-8% of people fit into the stereotype of what people think of when they think of the 'bible-belt.' Where I live, it's perhaps 10% of the population. Not a big difference, but people make it out to be that way.

Lying, to the Republican Party, is breathing. Do not take his lie to heart. The majority of Americans think he is wrong on so many issues he won't be close to winning the nomination.

So sorry. He is an embarrassment to all of us.
