Congressman Lewis made this impassioned speech at the Atlanta Pride Festival this past Sunday, October 10. He spoke of the beauty of human diversity and the need to end discrimination in the law based on sexual orientation. He also spoke of the importance in continuing to march, speak out, and organize in the pursuit of full equality under the law.

Please watch this fantastic video.

2. Inspiring words from a real champion for civil rights
I was honored to have the chance to meet him in '04 when he led a march in Columbus, OH to SoS Ken Blackwell's office at the state Capitol. I'd gone to OH to volunteer for the final two months of the Kerry campaign, and I carried a large Kerry/Edwards placard in the march--which Rep. Lewis was kind enough to sign for me.

Since then, I've purged almost all of my campaign memorabilia. But one thing I've kept--and will never purge--is that placard with Rep. Lewis' signature.

Thanks for the vid, racaulk!

3. It would be nicer if they could call it "GAY pride parade"

5. I'm guessing...

...you have never been to Atlanta before. "Gay" and "Atlanta" are pretty much synonymous now. Calling the Pride Parade the "Gay Pride Parade" would be like someone calling a summer day here "hot". It's really not all that necessary.
