1. K&R. I saw this!
And Rachel stated it perfectly, exposing these malevolent crazies for what they are... x(

2. K&R
The Repukers are always for "less government" except when it has to do with monitoring what's going on in other people's beds.

3. That's the way I've explained liberal vs. conservative...
The RW are the ones who want to tell everyone else what to do... x(

4. Molly Ivins said it best...
"The GOP doesn't want to govern...they want to rule."

6. And which is likewise at odds.....
...with what I grew up (in the 50s and early 60s) to understand that Republicans stood for. With the advance of Nixon's "Southern Strategy," he welcomed into the bosom of the party, the old racist Dixiecrats who lost power and control of their state party conventions in 1964.

And like roach-infested vagabonds they also brought with them the pernicious diseases of racism and religious certitude, along with the supposed racial superiority that tries to bolster such an untenable position. The creation of the Falwell's Moral Majority sealed the Republican Party's fate.

"When you say 'radical right' today, I think of these moneymaking ventures by fellows like Pat Robertson and others who are trying to take the Republican Party away from the Republican Party, and make a religious organization out of it. If that ever happens, kiss politics goodbye."

"I think every good Christian ought to kick Falwell right in the ass."

"Having spent 37 years of my life in the military as a reservist, and never having met a gay in all of that time, and never having even talked about it in all those years, I just thought, why the hell shouldn't they serve? They're American citizens. As long as they're not doing things that are harmful to anyone else. ... So I came out for it."

~ Barry Goldwater

8. Thanks for the reminder!
I saw a documentary on Barry Goldwater which was very enlightening, gave me a whole new view of him. I think that most of us would have liked him, certainly much more than Nixon, anyway. :)

7. Ironically
they share the same opinion with this man:

I'll put and end to the idea that a woman's body belongs to her...the practice of abortion shall be exterminated with a strong hand. -A. Hitler

---The GOP is accusing the Left of being Nazis, a tactic of accusing your opposition of what you are actually doing. It is actually a very powerful psychological trick. But this only part of what is being done here.

---Targeting one group for oppression reduces the whole.

---The beauty of the legal ruling for GLBTQ rights as being a human rights issue can be extended to apply to women's rights, child's rights, minority and all oppressed people's rights. This issue cannot be construed and twisted into a religious crusade.

Personally I hope that somehow the battle in California has opened a door for regaining our civil rights, and for that I am grateful to the Gay community.

<<<<<HUMAN RIGHTS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RELIGIOUS BELIEFS>>>>
