Just stop. Because the Tea Party will just try to victimize themselves as they are doing now. If the Teabaggers want to claim that their protests are about Obama's policies, then lets have that conversation Because we have clear rebuttals with FACTS.

No one can prove or disprove someone is or is not a racist.

2. Like I said Justin someone raised you right.
But the unfortunate thing is that many of the racist of the 50s and 60s who beat the crap out of black people then are still alive and kicking today....and many of them have not changed, they have just went into the closet now and again to show themselves as who they really are.
Some of them were able to inflict their beliefs on their children and that is the sad part.

4. That was tried with the religious right when they first started beating their political drum
Edited on Wed Jul-21-10 09:35 PM by mrcheerful
thinking that if we ignore them they would crawl back under the rock they emerged from. We see how that went now don't we? If you don't call them out then they see it as a weakness and they will push it until something real bad happens, think abortion clinic bombings and doctor murders. If you ignore the racism of the tea baggers they will get bolder in their racism tactics thinking no one see's it.

edited to fix a misspelling

10. It's not a racist movement, it's a fascist movement.
That's what I've been saying for a long time. It's a fascist movement with a "big tent" where racists are welcome. And we focus on the racism, which is terrible of course, when we should be focusing on the fascism.

13. They react with violence everytime their ignorance is exposed and only talk to those who agree with
them. TRy it and watch how quickly they keep changing subjects until they just get so angry they can't talk and start name calling at the top of their voice. They have no policies or workable agendas besides condemnation of dems and Obama. No idea of how to achieve what they claim they want. Most can't recognize their own ignorance only everyone else's. But you keep trying to treat racists rationally and kindly while they insult you and throw money at you or attack you. Just like the Nazi soldiers after the war ran just long enough to burn their uniforms...these loyal Bushies...er right wing republic...er tea partyiers are still quite insanely ignorant and want to reinstate all Bush's policies again. This is a war against the crazies who currently hide under tea party identities but we know who and what they are and must stop them here and now.

15. Is this the video version of concern trolling?
Yeah, let's not call a spade a spade, because it would make spades look bad and hurt their sensitivities. The road that type of "concern" takes us is not the high one, it goes somewhere else.

16. Unfortunate about the Tea Party
Much of what this guy says is true. There is nothing wrong with peacefully petitioning for smaller government, especially when government spending is not translating into anything that is vastly improving American lives. Unfortunately, at the top of the Tea Party universe, there is Ron Paul and Sarah Palin. Dr. Paul actually has some credibility on Capitol Hill as a guy who sticks to his principles, and he's certainly not a racist wingnut. On the other hand, Palin, well... I think if someone was trying to stir up trouble in that movement they certainly have done a good job. Whenever I see a career politician's job threatened by a grassroots movement, I get hopefully optimistic, even its from the Tea Party. But we have to admit to ourselves that a lot of people going to these rallies and out in the blogosphere are wingnuts. I do not think this means we should condemn that entire movement, but after the reports of Palin running racist hate rallies during the campaign in the deep south, and now this, I think the Tea Party is probably in some kind of internal crisis. A lot of what I have seen from this group is a call for more limited, Constitutional government. This does not prevent Faux News from picking up wingnut blogs and running with them, unfortunately. The first time I happened to see this video was before the MSM picked up on it, and that was on the Alex Jones (conspiracy entrepreneur) website. This guy has more movies for sale than Martin Scorsese, and all of them, for the last 20 years or something, have been about how he is waiting for martial law to be declared.

Anyway, if the Tea Party can keep some cred. by getting rid of the Taxicab-type psychos in their ranks, I think Faux News will be less likely to call them out to debase their movement. After all, any serious conservative movement that doesn't involve perpetual warfare or agree with the Neocon agenda for America is a threat to all Neocons like Rupert Murdoch and their political affiliates. Food for thought, in my view.

17. I dont know about Ron Paul
I agree that the guy tends to actually stick to his principles, but hes also got a pretty shady past mired in the militia movement of the early 90's.

18. Re: I dont know about Ron Paul
I definitely respect people who disagree, with reasonable arguments, about ideology and policies of the Republican Party - even its coming from people in the Republican Party! I think their followers can sometimes be the crazy ones. I don't know much about his militia ties, if any, but I wouldn't be surprised that militia groups supported him back then. Paul challenges neoconservative thinking big time - the point that he has been for marijuana legalization since the 70s. He has claimed he would support Dennis Kucinich as a serious vice president if he ever made it to President, but knows he never will. He consistently refers to members of his own party as "they" and "them", sort of disassociating himself with his own party, probably out of embarrassment.

He definitely schooled the war-hawk Republicans in the primaries and that is how he started getting his huge cult following. Its kind of hard for me to be worried about an elderly OBGYN in the Congress, but his supporters? Wow. That is a different story. I think the Tea Party is pulling in all sorts of riff raff and this comes with the territory of being a new movement. Should we actively petition for this group to be systematically destroyed? Faux would love this. Any form of conservativism that rejects the Neocon war agenda is better for American politics than what we have now. Its a danger to the lucrative establishment thats in place, as far as I can tell. I would rather see a libertarian Republican party than the one that exists today, which consists of rich, lazy robber barrens trying to convince a bunch of poor people that they represent their values.

In a sense, the Tea Party is the breakdown of the Republican party, representing elements of what it used to be vs. what it turned into under the Bush dynasty and even Reagan: expansionist War Party. Of course, this is all my take on it. I think anything has got to be better than the establishment GOP.

As far as I'm concerned, the Bush-era Republican party is falling apart in favor a much more lets-not-kill-everyone-because-we-can approach, which has the potential to be a good thing if it succeeds. Any time you see some wacko who identifies him or herself with this movement go apeshit you are going to see Faux play it up as much as humanyl possible. The main problem with this movement is that now every Repug up for relection claims to be part of this Tea Party... Yeah, wow... thats a messed up situation going on there. Maybe I'm part of the Tea Party and dont even realize it.
