Wow. You've got to see this. Kindra Arnesan has had a unique view of the BP oil gusher disaster operations - inside and close up. And she is PISSED!

8. This Gusher cannot be stopped
A relief well can only siphon off so much of the oil, the rest will come to the surface IF they stop with the dispersant.

BP should pay for a fleet of supertankers to come in and siphon the oil off the water. There are multi ways of separating oil from water that they're not using. It's expensive.

BP deserves to go bankrupt, but watch out, they'll probably already hiding assets.

Why is our Interior Dept. (& Obama) not ordering that these things be done immediately??

The gal is right. This BP Gusher is going to destroy the Gulf and perhaps the much of the Atlantic for decades, if not generations to come.

This is the biggest emergency facing our planet, our survival.

Leave the damn wars and spend the money saving our ecosystem.

73. The Supertankers are full of $145/Bbl of Oil waiting for the big profits..
Don't believe me?

There is so much crude storead all over that was withheld when the manipulation of the price of oil was stopped by the closure of the Enron Loophole in September of 2008, they are sitting on Oil that is worth less than half of what they paid for it, waiting for a big runup in prices.

They have been trying very hard to slowly ramp up Oil prices, despite the fact that we have very little industry left, 21% unemployment, and incredibly reduced demand.

The government unemployment figures of 10% are a joke.

The media trumpeting Oil and gas prices increasing never explain why it is arbitrarily going up every week... But the facts are that nearly every tank that can hold oil is full to the brim, and they don't have any more storage for this toxic crap.

After a while, people realize that storing oil for a long time is a real nasty operation. You have to pay reants, keep it safe, protect it form vandals, maintain the facilities, and all the while, you bought it all on credit in order to make a big killing in the Commodities market..

I just have to laugh at the stupidity of these "Investors", but I shudder at their power to manipulate markets back up, with the collusion of the federal government, wall street, military, and all the rest of the Corporatocracy.

Meanwhile, the Mainstream Media proclaims Solar Energy as Dead on Arrival, despite the fact that Photovoltaics are now running at $1.59 a watt...

Lets see, 2,000,000,000 Dollars Spent so far / 1.59 per watt = 1.2 Giga Watts of gross Photovoltaic Energy!
1,257,861,635.22 Watts / 185 watt panel = 6,799,252.08 Solar Panels..... 6.8 Million Panels...

Thats the perspective that's missing from our Oil Soaked Government officials..

I'm thinking that we may see an October Surprise in the form of Obama actualy uttering "Photovotaic", or "Solar Energy" for the first time in his presidency, becasue "Fleet of new Nuclear Power Plants" don't cut it.

107. It's a subtle dare to research it yourself for the DLC crowd.
The people that have a memory know, and can remember back nearly 2 years when the Enron Loophole was plugged, and the price of oil plunged between July to september, while the election cycle was spinning it's web of lies.

The people that have paid attention to the response by Goldman Sachs in regards to parking the oil in tankers will remember, but two years is a long time for most people in the rat race, where monthly bill payments, mortgage and Insurance bills, on top of commuting to work, or looking for work, are distracted to the point of brain damage.

I rememeber it well, listening to the crash of the financial system, and McLame and Obama cancelling their campaign whistle stops to sit in on the Economic Panic session in Washington, while on my way to a tranquil weekend vacation near Mt. St. Helena while stuck on the mainland.

Some people actually do not have a memory that spans this period, and those are the ones that won't believe me.

This information is posted all over.. I just paraphrase it when the opportunty arises, because it is fricking important and illuminates the BS we are subjected to by the Mainstream Media, that publishes it once, hoping that it is promptly forgotten.

and I agree with your conclusions on this --

I don't know how ready Americans are to wake up yet - ???

Sad -- but true --

They've been lied to so long about everything by our press, CIA, BP --

GOP and right wing -- ExxonMobil -- that they seem to barely know which end

is up?

A ton of them seem to be waking up quickly -- but they don't seem to have reached

the conclusion yet that this all depends on them -- on ALL of us acting!!

I kid you not.. The Corporations are lobbying the Government to prohibit collecting rainfall because it violates water rights they are proposing..

I read this a few years back, but it was so ridiculous that it got laughed out of town. However, I believe they will try again until they succeed.

114. Really, I think that's why most people fail to react sufficient to elites . . .
they find it hard to believe that anyone would waste their time trying to control

everything -- own everything -- and collect dollars -- even to the point of

suicidal behavior for the planet!

They say that Howard Huges wanted to OWN everything -- can't recall if he was just

workong on America or everything at once!!

Normal people find these greedy, exploitive and suidical concepts hard to believe!!

109. The Gobernment Experts are looking for a Corporate job tomorrow.
Plus, they all have crushing mortgages, so they will not jeopardize their future by showing any ethical behavior

I've seen it first hand, and the only way to kill this cancer is by starving it to death. Refuse to work, don't make enough money to pay taxes, Use passive resistance, and make life difficult for the facists that demand that you to walk yourself to to jail. Scrw that, carry me!

The rich send their flunkies to jail in their stead. The civil servant writes laws that absolve them of any accountability. If thats the way it's going to be, it's time the common man got a bit obstinate and uncooperative.

Obama is a full blown puppet of the DLC.. We've been punked, and it's pretty obvious.

and now $36 billion in loans to nuclear industry!!

Imagine what we could do with alternative energy with that money!!

Your take on resistance is interesting -- but on the other hand, most Americans are busy

earning money for banks/credit card companies as they run around shopping each day doing

their "work" for these companies. American Express last I heard is charging 7.5% on

companies who take the card. Think others are generally around 3.5% --

And they don't have to do a thing to earn it except get those plastic cards into

the hands of consumers!

PS: Btw, don't know when you were last working in DU, but don't you think the levels

of criminal corruption in goverment increased unbelievably during Bush/Cheney years?

I mean agencies were being corrupted -- but it's like organized crime now?????

116. Sadly, the organized crime of Enron was decades old before Dubya arrived.
Now it's the Gold Standard for Corporate Personhood, and we are still held hostage by the policies that started under BuSh Sr, Clinkton, and hit out of the park by Dubya and his cronies.

Unfortunately, the Obama administration is nothing more than Clinton part two, and it's painfully obvious that they are happy to feast on the deregulated playing field that they helped create in the first place.

Americans are not so naieve anymore, at least I hope not. Everyone I talk to that is able to think clearly sees corruption everywhere, and is taken steps to protect themselves.

It's more like gaming the Constitution by allowing Corporate Personhood, and explicitly writing laws that absolve any Corporate or Government malfeasor from being accountable for Action or Inaction... And we pay for it.

Dubya and Cheney have proven it by the Valerie Plame incident, which is a felony, conjuring up stories to engage in a war for oil, and enriching their cronies.

It's not like this hasn't been going on for the last 50 years... BP was assisted by the CIA when Iran nationalized their Oil.. What about Panama, Venezuela, Iran again recently. I could go on and on.. United Fruit anyone?

All of this is detailed by people that have come in from the cold and told the story. Yet americans still have this unfounded belief that the mell marketed USGOV is above playing nasty, destabilizing games with the rest of the world.

The best thing that ever happened to me was to abandon the economy and learn how to do virtually everything myself.. After experiencing a little fear in taking the plunge, and pioneering a place to live, it turns out that it's not that hard.. It's just a big learning curve.

Most people are afraid to try, or think that it's impossible, but it's untrue. They are just afraid, and indoctrinated with the "I can't!" disease.

Well, I am proof that you can abandon the rat race, and live anywhere happily if you put your mind to it, and allocate all of your time to yourself and your immediate family. It's not hard once you learn how to save and not spend.

An example of this is that I once in a while like to eat a nice greasy burger with fries at a local coffee shop. My wife and I did this for years, but recently, what used to cost 18 dollars now costs 32 dollars. Added to that, portions became smaller.

The value of the meal in my opinion dropped by 20%, but it had inflated by 30%. After experiencing this a couple of times, it was pretty easy to abandon this very friendly restaurant to fend for themselves. It wasn't their fault, but the Inflation that we are told is only 1% or so. The reality is that their is a price point, when living outside the economy, that forces one to look for alternatives and abandoned wasteful purchases.

I still love the restaurant, but I am not comfortable supporting an economy that cannot face the reality of runaway inflation. It's not up to me to complain to them, but they are the ones suffering, and I see the end of a 40 years establishment as other shy away from the inflated prices.

We no longer stop in there while doing business in town anymore. We make some sandwiches and keep our money for more important things.

I don't think I am alone in this. We adapt to changes as they become painful, and stick with our decision until the situation clears up, or just learn to provide better quality and or value ourselves.

I make my own Pizza Dough now.. I never new how easy it was until Tombstone frozen pizza's (Our last processed food vice) shot up to 8.95 a piece forced me to research ways to replace it.

Now we make totally organic fresh pizza from scratch. It takes about 1.5 hours, but it's fine with us, and more healthy.

The only thing stopping people from standing up to the constant onslaught of distractions and time theft is to make a vow to do it and experience it.

2 weeks off the job would not kill anybody.

criminality --

Agree with your summation --

And I'm concerned that even Obama isn't allowing for this "rip tide" you can get caught

in -- i.e., bad enough he went on with offshore drilling and approving new wells -- but

from his comments -- "Oil rigs these days don't spill" -- and the most recent one I've

heard - "The Gulf will bounce back" -- suggests either a wild-eyed belief in what he's

being told and/or a lack of second thoughts on what he's being told???

It's not like this hasn't been going on for the last 50 years... BP was assisted by the CIA when Iran nationalized their Oil.. What about Panama, Venezuela, Iran again recently. I could go on and on.. United Fruit anyone?

Yes -- more than interesting --

All of this is detailed by people that have come in from the cold and told the story. Yet americans still have this unfounded belief that the mell marketed USGOV is above playing nasty, destabilizing games with the rest of the world.

Certainly I don't know all the stories on all the corruption -- but when Bill Buckley died, we

began to find out the CIA -- which took money from any right wingers -- KKK/John Birch/Nazis --

has long supported right wingers in Congress financially -- two mentioned were Sen. Strom

Thurmond and Rep. Gerald Ford. There were others. Certainly the GOP didn't knock out the

liberal Dem Congress on their own -- they had a lot of help and right wing money.

I've also read that our Federal Education budgets contained CIA budget money -- as much as 50%

of the education budget!

In other words, this example is only a very small part of what Cheney was giving us a clue into --

i.e., "The right wing creates the reality and the left lives it!" --

Just about everything I look at in rightwing is financed and put in place by them -- everything

is fake.

And see Brzezinski on faking the Afghanistan war during Carter administration --

We created Taliban/Al Qaeda and went into Afghanistan 6 months before Russians came in --

and we did this . . . "in order to bait the Russians into Afghanistan ... in hopes of giving

them a Vietnam-type experience."

We also created, published and shipped into the Middle East those notoriously violent Islamic

textbooks -- obviously to try to spread a violent form of Islam into ME.

On and on --

The best thing that ever happened to me was to abandon the economy and learn how to do virtually everything myself.. After experiencing a little fear in taking the plunge, and pioneering a place to live, it turns out that it's not that hard.. It's just a big learning curve.

Where are you now?

I think also it depends on age -- by the time people wake up, sometimes it's too late --

I've wondered if I should be trying to get my kids out of US?

My sister is now living abroad.

What I was really trying to get to -- was that just as the right wing violence came out into

the open in '63 -- it seems to me it's more nakedly on display everywhere now than ever before?

Do you think Obama is giving enough weight to that reality . . . if you agree with me???

119. I think Obama and the DLC are crapping their pants.
This keep smiling game is just buying time until the next phase of the collapse starts, which I feel will be the second half of 2010.

I live in the center of the Pacific Ocean, and am more than a half a century old, but even with this sort time, I have see oceans fished away, entire coral reefs die, and have seen the same pattern of corruption over and over and over.

The U.S. Government has a marvelous market agency.. It's called Hollywod.

Unfortunately, like Hollywod, the set are only facades, the cast member are all actors, and when one examines the set, you can stick a finger through it because it is unsubstantial and made of foam. It has a great paint job however, but after a few years, it gets so worn out that it crumbles under it own weight.

There was a time when most everything in America was substantial and built to last. These days are gone, because buildings are built without purpose, other than to stimulate consumption, which is ultimately unsustainable.

The vast amounts of empty homes, rotting in the elements is a testament to this unsustainable Hollywod image -- I think of the remake of the Stepford Wives and the ridiculous McMansions in the film.. All perfect, but all unreal.

I have the same feeling that the Military is another Hollywood entity.. For example, every once in a while they have a joint naval exercise called Rimpac out here. Well, a few years back, in the middle of a Carrier group, up pops a Chinese diesal submarine that had been undetected, within range to torpedoe the Carrier!

The diesel sub is very inexpensive... and uses technology from the 1930's...

Another thing was when the F-22 flew across the International Dateline and the time changed caused the Avionics package to crash. They had to fly back to Oahu and fix it.

Or how about the time that a b-52 flew across America with real Nukes strapped on by mistake?

I could go on and on regarding the disparity with the amount of money supposedly allocated to the military, and the cheap ass fuckups that occure with weapons system, toxic waste, contaminated wells being used to water the troops, Depleted Uranium. The flimsy reasons to invade Iraq, etc. All of it stinks of fraud and corruption. We now see that same corners cut on the Deepwater well that is a disaster of untold proportions.

For an agency for which money is no issue, they sure do take a lot of chances.

What we are seeing today is the end of Bretton Woods and the Ponzi scheme that has been operating since then. It's time for this cancerous, consumer based economy to collapse so a new one can rise in it's place.

Unfortunately, the banksters won't go without a fight.

The trade agreements have to be amended or overturned --

Two wars bankrupting the Treasury and Dems refinancing it since '06!

And behind it all, the bailouts of capitalism!!

Unregulated capitalism is merely organized crime -- and we're bailing it out--

these people should be in jail!

They say the hedge/derivative things are like into the hundreds of trillions !!

Obama was making some progress on job creation -- though think he's doing it thru corporations

rather than directly? Did someone think it was too much progress?

I live in the center of the Pacific Ocean, and am more than a half a century old, but even with this sort time, I have see oceans fished away, entire coral reefs die, and have seen the same pattern of corruption over and over and over.

I'm at least in your time frame -- population increase in my time is astonishing!!

Patriarchy/Organized Patriarchal Religion and their invention -- Capitalism -- all have to go!

Capitalism and Communism . . . "a pox on both their houses!"

Your observations on "Hollywood" I think are excellent --

Where is the money going? Into private pockets and into creating Star Wars?

I have the same feeling that the Military is another Hollywood entity.. For example, every once in a while they have a joint naval exercise called Rimpac out here. That's been a frightening revelation because they put in a lot of wells in the Gulf!

Atlantis still a concern, for one.

Everything needs to be reversed -- trade agreements, Brettonwoods, Glass-Steagall -- the

New Deal needs to be reinstated.

Basically, would be simply if we could just uninvent the dollar bill!

Thanks -- interesting

There is a news blackout on the seriousness of the devastation.

The corruption, incompetence and manipulation of the news from the top of the government all the way down is something you would imagine happening in North Korea

I'm an attorney.

I've fished out of Venice for the past 30 years almost every summer. I used to keep my boat at Venice in the summers.
Its about at 25 mile run down the Mississippi River from there to the Gulf. Gorgeous marshes, incredible wildlife.
Redfish, trout inshore.

Go out of South Pass about 10 miles and you are in 900 feet of water and you can troll for marlin, wahoo, mahi mahi, yellowfin tuna. The water is (was) a gorgeous deep blue.
Sometimes you would see a pod of sperm whales if you were lucky.

About 15 years ago my oldest son caught a 165 pound yellowfin almost exactly where the Deep Water Horizon blew up.

It is so sad. The people who live from the marsh are the most hardworking, toughest, and usually the most generous people you would ever want to meet.
They got through Katrina, and the next two storms that sideswipped them.

I think this is going to kill off a lot of good people and a lot of good communities down there.

It is utterly heartbreaking

This meme is circulating around the right-wing, that Obama should have taken over a long time ago. Yes, it's duplicitous of them. I think there's two reasons for shifting the responsibility. First, because they know they really fucked up. second, to shift the blame.

Bottom line, he's in the presidency. Once people lose hope, they will take it out of him, regardless of who put us in this position.

30. He sure is, Backlash. Obama took the view that he shouldn't "own" this crisis, BP should.
So his advisors tried to keep the White House out of it as much as possible as a "lost cause." But a fish rots at the head first and he's the head right now. You can't just say, welp, the Gulf is a write-off, let's get on with climate legislation, where we can win.

At every step of the way Obama has been living in a bubble. I constantly know more about the Gulf situation than he does just from my little computer.

What Kindra is also telling us is that these BP people are STILL F*CKING UP even in the aftermath of the disaster. This means that there is a very high likelihood that the relief wells will NOT work. Not because they can't but because BP is probably cutting corners even on THEM. Did you know that even the relief wells have blowout preventers? What do you think are the odds that THOSE blowout preventers are ALSO faulty? EVERYTHING BP does is slipshod, slapdash and HALF-ASSED. We are going to have two failed relief wells, then they are going to try explosives down below to collapse the well and if that doesn't work they are going to have to use an underground nuclear explosion, something the Russians have done successfully several times to stop out of control gas wells. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. And if one-third of the ocean is poisoned, as Kindra warns, that means that the whole planet becomes oxygen starved because most of our oxygen comes from plants in the oceans. Does Obama even KNOW this while he prattles on about the number of feet of boom they put down?

Obama used to say, "Yes we can." Now his middle name is "No we can't." His whole attitude is "What do you want ME to do about it?"

Obama has clearly abdicated his role as president by writing off the Gulf as a lost cause and moving to climate legislation. What about fixing the leak RIGHT NOW? He's the leader. If he doesn't WANT to lead, why doesn't he just resign? And Biden too. Pelosi is next in line of succession. I'm sure there are lots of qualified Democrats who would be happy to take his job if he doesn't want it.

Really. I'm serious. It could be done. Our own party could easily replace him if he doesn't want to be president. Here's how it would work. Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill would begin by "taking the walk." They would walk over to the White House, sit down with the president and explain to him that he has lost their confidence. Obama and Biden resign. Then Pelosi becomes president. If she doesn't want to be, she can appoint a worthy Democratic vice president, who becomes president and she resigns and goes back to leading the House. This is more like how parliamentary democracies work, where the party in power sometimes replaces their own leader/prime minister if they feel he has become damaged goods. They do it for the good of their country and for the good of their party.

It could be done for us too. It all boils down to, does Obama want to lead or not. If he DOESN'T, why doesn't he just resign?

Now, I can understand how he might feel. There are probably days when he sits there thinking, "I'm SICK of being president! All this good food, cooked just the way I like it, the paid chefs, the butlers, the maids, the servants, the luxury living, secretaries and staff by the truckload handling my every need, a federal workforce that answers to me of FOUR MILLION PEOPLE, the lavish protection and assistance for me and my family, Air Force One, Chopper One.... What a miserable life! I am just SICK AND TIRED of being president!"

Mr. President. That's just FINE. If you don't want to lead, if you don't WANT to be president, you can resign right now and go back to Chicago where you can sit around the campfire singing. Nobody MAKES you be the leader. Resign right now.

Edited on Thu Jun-24-10 06:31 PM by defendandprotect
makes no sense and could be catastrophic for the nation --

The government certainly has the option of calling in whomever they want

to look at this --

I see nothing but more than 60 days of this oil and a toxic dispersant being

spilled into the Gulf -- and everyone being made ill!!

Not to mention the threat to the planet -- to the oceans -- to birds, fish, life in Gulf!

Yes -- the right wing will always lie -- but sadly Obama did approve more offshore

oil drilling -- evidently believed in it -- "Oil rigs these days don't leak"! --

and evidently Salazar approved this well -- not this far down, but this well?!!

This can only be blamed on corporatism --

this is predatory corporatism - and it has to be ended!!!

We need to make every day this well isn't capped a CALL IN day to Congress!!

People in NJ were effected by it, as well --

Who knows what diseases from that pollution will be becoming evident

in another 10 years from now?

Mot to the extent of the rescue workers, of course -- they were hit hardest

and became ill immediately!

31. That was the feeling I got watching her...
She has a vested interest in this thing and, as I listened, I saw shades of Norma Rae and Erin Brockovich. And she reinforces that in this interview with CNN:

Thank you so much for working on the transcript. I was going to do it last night after I posted the video but I was too tired and went to bed. Since you're already working on it, I'll yield to your effort.

Thank you

OK, I'm not really a speech-giver. You guys try to bear with me; I'll try to make this as painless as possible.

To explain to you where I live, I am indeed the one on the very end. I am at Point 5 on Highway 23 in South Plaquamines Parish, Louisiana. Keep in mind through what I have to say, is that I am the mother of a five year old little boy and an eight year old girl who look like their Dad.

That being said, when this first happened, I really didn't know what to do. Who to ask questions to. Who was going to give us answers. The first day we were introduced to anyone from BP they came into our building and said

"BP does business right"

Yeah! Can you believe that? "BP does business right and we're here to take care of everything, folks."

Well, 61 days later, that's a joke, to say the least. Just to give you guys kind of perspective of where I've been, four weeks ago, I set up at a town all meeting at IND pinned down all involved (inaudible 1:16 ) and I am disturbed bye the end of their speech. At any rate, I was invited the following week to go behind "enemy lines." They gave me, of all people, security clearance to go into the base of operations meetings in Venice, Louisiana eight days in. Open door invitation to sit like a fly on the wall. Can you believe it? It's really going on. They also gave me security clearance to go up to the Homer Incident Command Post which is over the entire region of Louisiana. I've been in Coast Guard planes all the way out to the site itself. Helicopters. Boat rides. I have been everywhere that anybody could ever want to go to get an inside look at what's really going on.

Now, I want to start by telling you guys I am not at all impressed. Someone told me this morning that they thought I had crossed over. Well, I picked a team a long time ago. My Father was a Commercial Fisherman. And my Husband's a Commercial Fisherman. Every man that I've known, loved, and respected is on the water. They're good men.

At any rate, for the past week I've heard in the OPS meeting "We need to cut costs."

(audience response incredulous)

Yes, (nodding head) That's what they've said, that they need to cut costs.

I almost came out of my chair the first time I heard it, but I'm trying to stay where I am because someone has to be on the inside overlooking and seeing as to what's going on around. That being said, where I've seen "cutting costs" is quite unfortunate. What we call in Venice... First we gotta understand this phrase: "Ponies and balloons."

Well, the only place I"ve ever seen "ponies and balloons" is at the circus. Right? At any rate, about a week and half in, I learned what "ponies and balloons" meant. "Ponies and balloons" means that every time an official is headed anywhere near here, they get a heads up.. All assets are deployed into the hardest hit areas. The official comes in, flies over, "good job, fellas" (waves), pats 'em on the back. When that official disappears out of the hardest hit area, so does 75%-80% of the response.

It's happening. It's happening every day. I'm watching it. I've seen it. I don't agree with it. Anyone in this room's not gonna agree with it. Anyone in our great nation's not gonna agree with it.

We are expendable to these people. We do not matter.

Now, I'm gonna get off that. I'm sorry I talk in circles, but that's the coonass in me. Y'all following me, just let me know..

At any rate, I'm gonna go into the health issues for a moment, if you don't mind.

I've sat through endless hours of meetings with BP's safety officers. I've sat through an hour and 45 minute meeting with the Coast Guard Safety Officers, both in the Homer Incident Command Post, as well as a gentleman from OSHA.

In order to obtain a respirator for our responders -- now this isn't just Commercial Fishermen -- I'm talking about Coast Guard members, all responders, people off the street. Everybody involved.

Number 1: They have to fill out an OSHA questionnaire

Number 2: They have to have a physical evaluation by a medical professional.

But, EPA is doing air monitoring. Everything's OK. It's great. (incredulous) Yeah, imagine that.

At any rate, there is in fact some act somewhere, OSHA's law, that volunteers have a right to wear a "volunteer respirator."

BUT, as we all know, BP has taken over our Gulf. BP rules right now, our Gulf. Bottom line, that's who's in charge of the situation. (raises volume and pitch) They couldn't even run their own company and they are in charge of this response!

I'm totally appalled!

They can't wear a "volunteer respirator" because they aren't properly trained. BP's rules are that they have to be properly trained in order to wear a respirator. Now, BP said that they will provide the training and they will provide a respirator.

BUT, every thing's OK. (according to the EPA) So, they don't need to be trained and they don't need a respirator. And as far as the "right to wear volunteer respiration?" Guess what? If you don' t follow BP's rules, you don't have a job. And that's what they told me.

Now, I asked them to discuss the seven men that were brought, one by helicopter and six by ambulance. I asked them if they were at liberty to discuss that with me. And they said, "Yes Ma'am, we are."

I guess these guys didn't realize who they were talking to.

Number 1 response from Mr Hayward was food poisoning. Four different boats, all in ... way , way from each other. Food poisoning.

Second response was heat exhaustion.

Then last Wednesday -- I'm sorry, Wednesday a week ago -- when I sat with OSHA and BP safety officers, the OSHA man informed me that all four boats took Pine-Sol, sprayed it all over their boats, and then sat and breathed in the fumes all day long and that's what caused the chemical poisoning.

Hold on a second! I've been on boats all my life. I've been with captains all over the place. When we spray something on our boat, we wash it right off. If not, it eats the paint off the boat. We take care of ourselves. So that right there was just a blatant out lie.

So, then I asked them, throwed one out of left field at them. I said, so what about the people of 9/11? He said, it's funny you asked about that. Because I was working that job. We were following them around with respirators, begging them to put them on. And he actually pointed the finger at our New York Firefighters.

(audience boos)

Yeah, (nodding)

They are dying a slow death as we sit in this room right now from chemical poisoning. Pointing the finger at them and saying that they turned around and gave him the one finger salute. And said, "We're not wearing a respirator, we're looking for our friends."

Trained firefighters? In New York? Are you serious?

I wanted to just slap him in the face! But, I was good.

At any rate, you know, my children have broke out in four rashes. My child broke out in a rash the first time. I took her to Florida for four days. It magically cleared up. I brought her back, she broke out again. I left, she cleared up. Now today, she broke out again. Not to mention that my beautiful, healthy, straight-A student, gorgeous daughter has a double-ear infection. Upper respiratory problems. I left and went to Baton Rouge, and as I drove back home, clearing the throat, the stickiness, the upper respiratory irritation.

You know, the bottom line here is this morning I contacted Miss Marla Cooper who is District 9 Councilwoman for Plaquamines Parish. And Miss Marla has three grandchildren in our area and she's just a great grandparent and a good Mom, and I told her, "Miss Marla, we have got to call an evacuation of our area. We can not allow our citizens to sit like we're out in the middle of the -- we are, this is on all three sides of my home -- I walk outside and there's a haze. They're called "bad air days." "Folks, stay inside, put your air conditioning on recirculation. Everything's just fine."

Why would we need to lock ourselves up in our house? You really think that's gonna cut it? Do you really think that's gonna make the situation better? No. It's not. Where do you think the air that's inside the house comes from? Outside of the house.

These people, they never cease to amaze me. The lack of humanity, here. I know that my Parish only makes up two percent (2%) of Louisiana's population , but does that make my people expendable?!

This is unacceptable!

They are slowly poisoning every person that I've ever been close to in my entire life and I'm standing here saying NO MORE!

Now, if I ruffle some feathers, and make some people mad. So be it. I don't care. My people are more important to me than their "bottom line." And that is *my* bottom line.

So basically, this whole "ponies and balloons" act -- if someone does not come in and properly oversee this response -- our marsh now is being used as a boom. an overworked (?) boom, a big, giant sponge. It's on both sides of us. It will fill up, it is filling up, constantly. We have heavy, heavy crude penetrating our marsh right now as we speak. They deploy , and then they pull 'em back in when the politicians leave and this is not acceptable!

They're not cleaning it up; they're covering it up! This is, we're barely into this. This could go on for years and years and they are already cutting costs! Cutting costs, cutting corners, taking shortcuts is why we are all sittin' in this room today.

(applause)

Enough is enough!

Now, as far as EPA, OSHA, NOAA, BP, and the federal government , they every one of them's in collaboration with each other. That comes from someone at the top of NOAA. That's who I've been talking to. They gave me someone at the top of NOAA. But, they're all in collaboration with BP.

Are you serious!?!

Who do these people work for? I thought these were our agencies to protect our better interests, our world, our Earth, our lives and what is going on here? Are we that dependent upon these ... banks? to just roll over and let them poison our world? and our people in it?

This is unacceptable.

A week after this started they wanna say "Nothing's happening. Nothing's dyin'. A week after the story, I traveled 70 miles east of the original site/ There was these shells floating all over the top of the water. Hundreds of thousands of them. They were empty because they were dead. I've never seen a shell float in my life. Dead. A week after.

Four weeks ago when the oil was trajected to hit the west side of our peninsula. I was so mad after I went down to Pascaloocha and seeing what wasn't being done there, that I got in my boat -- my dime, my time, -- and I took a trip. I was like (almost invited?) FOX national news on my boat. I traveled 10 miles from Red Pass to four bayous, to the east side of Grand Isle. Now the oil was trajected to hit that side of the peninsula.
30 miles! I did not run into one responder. I did not run into one piece of boom, hard or soft. 150 feet of sandbags on 150 miles stretch of shoreline.

This is unacceptable.

So, I decided on the way back, well let me just go out from the coast a little bit and see what's going on. I ran into oil 3/4 of mile off the coast. Not sheen. Crude. As I'm driving along back towards Red Pass (Pass or Path?) I look over the Gulf and I notice that there's big swarms of birds. That's not unusual. I figured they was diving on bait. But what where they diving into oil sheen? Because birds don't know any better. We're driving out towards the birds. I wanted to see what they were diving into. I wanted to know. As we get out to the birds, I don't know if you've been out on the water much, if you've seen a big school of fish. They have like a boil on the water. It looks like a pot boiling. The fish boil the water with their moves. As we drove into it, there was big Bull Reds (Bull Mouths?) with their mouths on top of the water , laying sideways , swimming upside down in a circle. Again, hundreds of thousands of them, school after school after school. They were dying. They were so disoriented that they were running into the side of my boat.

(audience member asks why the news isn't down there.)

That's a real good question. Fox national news swears it's on their website, but I've search it up and down. I've even, you know what. I've got the camera man's phone number in my purse right there. we can call him after and find out exactly where it's at. I've already been asking for it over and over again.

(applause)

And they won't give it to me. You know what? Everybody saying a "media blackout," "a media blackout." Yes ma'am there is a media blackout. Um. Sydney, Australia "60 minutes" came over and they did a real nice piece. I watched it on their website. The transcript is still there. 24 hours after the video hit the website, it disappeared.

You know, as far as the Fisherman can catch shrimp elsewhere comment, I want to make something real clear. We have bee fighting imports and regulations for the last 20 years. They have regulated us to the point as Commercial Fisherman, that my husband personally has seven different permits. The only thing that my husband does not do is oyster. So, if there is shrimp somewhere else, or we can use gill net or whatever we need to do in order to provide a food source for this country, a natural way to feed people, then somebody point me in that direction and let me know where it is, 'cause I've looked all over the place.

I came back here four and a half years ago and rebuilt on dirt because this is my home and I love Louisiana . I live right out in the middle of nowhere, boondocks. The bottom line here is, that if the country does not stand up and say "NO MORE!" we must take action. we cannot sit back, and if this stuff does not stop guys, this is gonna go global. It will destroy 1/3 of the world's water. Bank on it. They do not stop this, ever ocean is connected. It will go on and on and on as my daughter says "infinity+2"

Enoughs enough.

I'll take any questions after. Thank you for listening.

(Supernova again - if you listening and copy doesn't jibe le me know under the post and I can correct it in the next hour. I wasn't sure about the part where she said she took her boat out on the water, if she was saying that she took a FOX NEWS person out with her. That's what I get, with the story about the missing video, but I need help verifying.

It really sounds like she's a person who is a re pub who has seen, is seeing the light re: corporate ownership of our society.)

61. Thanks!
It makes sense that she would be talking about a local affiliate. I wasn't sure if she meant national or not since she was also talking about a crew from Australia.

70. Correction: Homer = Houma
Edited on Thu Jun-24-10 03:58 PM by supernova
I think she means the Houma Incident Command Post (the Coast Guard command post). I misheard. Sorry.

103. You're welcome
The audio is poor quality. Sounds like every other public access cable channel of the town council meeting from the 1980s.

69. I was thinking
I wish she could be sitting in front of Congress telling everyone this, but I wonder if they would even respond. I wonder how many Congress members have had BP donations in the past?

87. You're nor going to like this...
I don't know.....BP is not stupid. Why would they just allow this woman in-who had previously been on CNN to come in and be a "fly on the wall"? BP is concerned about image. Why would they do this? They're too smart. We're not down there. I have no doubt that there 's a lot of stuff going on. Sick kids and all. My heart goes out to them all. I cry every night when I see the pictures. BUT, I don't quite believe that this is a legitimate video. It's done very well. It's not a FLIP camera and the video has a border around it. Why didn't she take pictures when she was in her boat? Don't you think that would have helped her cause more? I think there's someone else behind this. Call me paranoid, but I think there's someone behind this.

94. BP is a company that is not giving the clean up people respirators.
I don't find it far fetched that they would not let her bring a camera.

I have been in similar situations (not around toxics, but around "election" people.) "Our voting machinery is not flawed, and blah blah blah." And they couldn't prevent me from bringing in a camera, as the law said I could, but I didn't do it because I could observe and get their feed back without the camera. Whereas the camera would have brought about hostility.

As far as a professional looking video, all she needs to get that is to ask for help from two or three average IQ'ed teenagers, or one slightly above average teenager.
