He should and could have come down on BP like a ton of bricks with anti-trust violations or things like that. He should have threatened to break up BP. Even a threat if backed up with even a little teeth could have caused chaos to BP investors, the stock could have plummeted a lot sooner and BP investors, who are private citizens, would have been all over BP threatening to screw Hayward at the next stockholders meeting. There are lots of ways Obama could have made BP sh*t a brick and I guarantee that suddenly, SUDDENLY, BP would have gotten off their lethargic fat ass, stopped being so HALF-assed about everything they do and gotten it right for once.

Obama should have scared the sh*t out of BP and that would have brought results a thousand times faster than all this luvvy-duvvy palsy-walsy corporatism.


Obama didn't do this because he is a corporatist wimp and this is going to drag the Democratic Party down to defeat in November.

BP is facing billions in fines and lawsuits, their stock has plummeted, and they are becoming the poster child of environmental destruction. He obviously was responding to a criticism put forth by Matt Lauer about whether it's worth it to talk to experts. Without even seeing what Matt said, it's obvious that Matt's comment was something along the lines of "talking to experts" isn't doing anything and is basically just more "Professor Obama" stuff.

Obama's response pointed out the reason why he and his staff talk to experts. AT NO POINT did Obama say he didn't know whose ass to kick. Talking to experts provides critical info including info on how the failure happened. We ALL KNOW BP is to blame, but there may be other fail safes that did not work properly along the way as well.

My god, did I really need to spell this out?
