1. Bravo to Obama for FINALLY realizing he had to address the nation on the spill

His explanation of the Afghanistan conflict was pitiful. The conflict is sucking in trillions of dollars and killing lots and lots of Afghanis, Americans and others, but everyone knows that it is folly and will ultimately change nothing. The Afghani tribesman that we are supposed to be so afraid of are simply doing what they have always done to invaders. Kill as many as they can, however they can until the invaders leave.

Obama is in many respects captured by the same forces that snookered LBJ - the insane right wing! Corporatists and war profiteers that are simply waiting to pound the drum of fear as loud and as long as they can if Obama withdrawls troops and some dumbass lights his underwear on fire on bus or train.

Both wars are an American tragedy and a cancer on our freeedoms and our futures.
