This is a classic example of how globalization is just a modern type of colonialism. Extract resources+maximize profits=locals suffer.

It's just much more cost efficient than the old colonialism was.

1. Feudalism
on a global scale. This is what is in store for all of us. No Unions. Wages (when there were jobs) that actually decreased over the last 4 decades. Universal health care....lol..it's cheaper to replace you. America has been seized and, through globalization, is spreading it's economic disease. The world is now critical. The IMF will soon be here to finish us off. The citizens of Greece were not responsible (or even aware of) what their "ruling class" was doing, but they are the ones who have to pay for it. Just like in Liberia.

2. why can't businesses do the right thing
how much money is enough... how much does the world have to pay for these greedy bastards?!

Companies that do this crap need to be disolved... that will send a message to every business out there. Yes copocrats, you are responsible and not above the law.

3. 22 years ago
Bridgestone bought out Firestone and it has been a Japanese company for over two decades not an American one . I do wonder why they wanted to portray this as an Firestone problem and not a Bridgestone problem . We have discovered how to make rubber polymers from synthetics and really don't have a need for low grade latex in the production of tires except to make price point cheap tires . Chase Bridgestone out of the area and these people can go back to the " natural " way they lived before .

4. You are kidding, right?
"Chase Bridgestone out of the area and these people can go back to the " natural " way they lived before ." After their land is diseased and their water poisonous? Wow, how superficial can a person think?

Bridgestone bought out Firestone and it has been a Japanese company for over two decades not an American one >>>>> this must be some commie plot to make America and unregulated, slash and burn economics look bad. How quaint. Well, we know better it's those damned Japanese. It's a good thing that we haven't globalized our God...unregulated capitalism to these savages. We sold that two decades ago. We started this process in 1926...how dare they! BTW, what kind of person would use " price point cheap tires." Damned savages, thats who...:sarcasm: :wtf:

6. Unfortunately
Most of us have to. I currently need new tires, I have been shopping around and waiting on a "sale." I'm glad you don't have to, yet.
