2. The socialism in this country is aimed at the wrong groups.
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 09:30 AM by Wapsie B
Socialism for the wealthy and corporations, capitalism for everyone else. We'd be much better off if the government largess were to be focused on the middle class and allowing corporations to live and die by the marketplace so loved by the righties.

First, I hate it when righties always refer to the "democrat party". It is something they were taught to do by their Rush Lord God King Boofuu. I remember when Keith showed a clip of Bush during one of his Special Comments back in the dark ages of the Bush Administration.

paraphrasing;
".......and it's pronounced DEM-O-CRAT-IC. SHOW SOME RESPECT!"

It's appalling to see elected Reps and news models use this pejoratively TO THIS VERY DAY. They should be corrected on it every single time, like an English teacher admonishing an oblivious 13 year old.

SECONDLY - at the root of our blind rush to outright merger of corporation and state (is there a historical term for that???) is the power of corporations.

So many believe the pure evil of government is support of welfare queens and disability abuse. CORPORATE WELFARE AND CORPORATE SOCIALISM takes much more from our society than an entire nation of welfare cheats. If you know some people are stealing from you, do you go after the guy that took $500 or the guy that took $10,000,000,000? Do you stop the mosquito bite or the nuclear explosion with ground zero in your basement?

I fear that if the horrendous activist Supreme Court ruling about unlimited corporate campaign donations is not dealt with before this election, then all hope to obliterating corporate power over our nation is forever lost. WE ARE ALL CORPORATE SERFS NOW! (with thanks to Chris Matthews USS Lincoln orgasmic moment of 2,521* days ago)

-90% Jimmy

*See Keith Olbermann's nightly sign off for the exact number

per jotsie below, yes indeed, thank you Thom. "Their" side has bloviating demigod predatory fear-hate mongers and our side has smart educated articulate and honest guys like Thom.

6. Labels and connotations are a preliminary dance to debate.
I don't care what you call it as long as it works efficiently. I'm fond of saying bones aren't meant to see the sun. I see effective governance, (not government) as support structure to the body, that's us.

Mr. Hartmann, thank you for the work you do, the way you do it, and keeping us here at DU in the loop.
