From ThinkProgress.

The Tea Party movement loves to express its affection for the Constitution. The Los Angeles Times writes, Adherence to what supporters deem to be a strict interpretation of constitutional principles is a key tenet of the tea party movement. Yesterdays Tea Party rally in Searchlight, NV, for instance, was filled with imagery of the Constitution. Protesters carried signs that read I honor the Constitution and What about the Constitution dont you understand? Rally attendee Norman Halfpenny, a 77-year old retired Marine Corps veteran, said, We need to get our Constitution back.

In her speech at the rally, Sarah Palin of course paid homage to the Constitution. Our vision for America is anchored in time-tested truths that the government that governs least governs best, that the Constitution provides the path to a more perfect union its the Constitution, she exclaimed. And so its extremely puzzling that Palin introduced this new attack line against President Obama yesterday:

"In these volatile times when we are a nation at war, now more than ever is when we need a commander-in-chief, not a constitutional law professor lecturing us from a lectern."

Ironically, the crowd cheered wildly at Palins line. Watch it:

2. It doesn't matter what she says..
.. as long as she attacks Obama... because he's an uppity
Black man, you see.

They could have signs reading: we honor tolerance and
inclusion.

Then Palin could just as well have said: what we need
is a commander-in-chief, not a do-good president who
wants to help our people.

And they would have cheered for that, too.

7. Sarah Palin & the Teabaggers are the best thing that happened to dems
in a century! The republican party will be known for decades to come as the nasty party, not something mainstream folks want to associate with.

Edited on Sun Mar-28-10 09:52 PM by SolidGold
All the teabaggers think the constitution consists of only the following amendments:
1. Free Hate Speech
2. Guns Guns Guns
3. Marriage is Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve
4. When legislation is passed that you don't like you CAN overthrow the government.
5. Founding Fathers something something something ... ???? yah heh.
6. Capitalism (corporations) > People

Be ready for 2012 when whitewingers find out about the bill of rights and declaration of independence!

Her ignorance of the Constitution is surpassed only by her contempt for it.

And by the way, where should a Constitutional Law professor lecture, if not from a lectern?

15. Wonder if Palin realizes that she is standing behind a LECTERN?
First Palin criticized President Obama for using a tele-prompter, now she doesn't use one anymore.
Then she criticizes 'LECTERNS', wonder if she will stop using those from now on too? :)

16. Didn't we hear this same speech a couple of months ago?
Edited on Mon Mar-29-10 12:10 AM by WhoIsNumberNone
We certainly heard the punchline a couple of months ago. Oh well, I guess it's OK for her to recycle speeches- I doubt many Fox-bots remember that far back, and maybe one less tree had to die for the greater glory of the republican party. (note: small 'r' not by accident- intentional disrespect)

And "We need our Constitution back"? As long as we're repeating ourselves, "WHERE WERE YOU DURING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION?" "FUNNY HOW THE CONSTITUTION ONLY BECAME STARTED BEING THREATENED AFTER WE ELECTED A BLACK DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT!"

What we need is a Christian cultist, beauty pageant, quitting know-nothing reality show hostess failure lecturing us from a lectern.

Hell yeah!

19. Fundies
When I hear the right wingers talk about the US constitution, I can't help myself not comparing it to the islamists talking about the Coran.

Here are two common points:
- The document was written by God himself (or by godly enspired people)
- The document cannot be altered or put into historic perspective (cannot be interpreted)
- Every person questionning the above points is a heretic, a traitor

23. Contradictory
We don't need a Constitutional Lawyer, we need the Patron Saint of Quitting - Sarah Palin!

(with thanks to Alan Grayson)

She praises the Constitution, or her vision of it, then says we don't need a lecturing Constitutional Lawyer? She loves the Constitution and hates leaders that are well educated in it? MY mind won't let me make that leap?

Until the SCOTUS can interfere with a state election in order to install a neo-con puppet as POTUS.

Then it's "What 10th Amendment?"
