I love that he denies there was a power outage, even though there's video of it. He's right though. Everyone know's it was probably a CIA plot to make him sip tea in the dark.

1. If you understand Spanish

you will hear that the generator in the Miraflores presidential palace went out for a few minutes.

Had nothing to do with sporatic power outages in other parts of Caracas and other places.

9. Don't spoil Dave's fun with facts.
Then he would have to actually post something of substance, and that is just asking too much.

2. CIA has destroyed many, many Latin American elected governments for U.S.corporate profits!
Edited on Sat Feb-27-10 05:45 PM by LaPera
The CIA has ALWAYS overthrown ELECTED progressive socialist liberal leaders in Latin America (and elsewhere) in favor of right-wing dictators who always allow corporations to profit off their countries resources, their people as slave labor, exploit lands for tourism, as well as industrial, chemically polluting with little or no restrictions on the multinational corporations for their corporate profit....and they offer almost nothing in return to it's people and the land they exploit, however, they do pay off the 'rightist' dictators handsomely.

It's the ONLY reason for the CIA to function (the Latin America "death squads" always seem to pop up whenever the CIA wants to take back an elected "leftist" country that has elected a progressive leader who forces corporations to pay their fair share of taxes to exploit that countries resources, elected socialist leaders who nationalize what belongs to their country for THEIR own people).

Regressive Republicans despise this progressive ideology and the only reason why the CIA exists and the only thing they do, to overthrow liberal leaders in the world in favor of right-wing dictators who they can count on to make deals for themselves while allowing American corporations to profit over their country, people and all else.

3. BFD
Once upon a time, I lived in a small village in the Guatemalan Highlands. A lot of people there wore shoes, but they could get along just fine without them or anything other than iron hand tools. Everyone (even the merchants) grew their own food. Some villagers had sporadic electricity that was pirated from the lines along the Pan American Highway. No one had a car so there was no gasoline. When the power went out, we lit candles or built fires and life went on. When the lights went out in the Capitol, or there was a gasoline shortage, the streets and roads became war zones and the Army was turned out to protect the homes of the wealthy and their business interests. The lights in the rural villages could go out permanently, and it would change very little. If the lights stayed out in the cities for more than a few days, urban civilization there would begin to disintegrate.

In Cuba. Mid 90s. During the special period.
