7. I, for one, enjoy Cenk's videos and am glad to see them on here.
So please keep posting them. Cenk's one of the best progressive voices out there, Syzygy. If you come to DU for progressive politics (and I assume you do), why would you object to his videos being posted here?

10. Cenk is awesome. Thanks to the OP for posting TYT videos.
I really appreciate seeing them. By the way, Why Syzygy, what's up with 7th grade put downs like "Are you dating this guy?" Surely there's a better way to express your desire not to watch Young Turk videos, such as... not watching Young Turk videos when they're posted on DU.

18. I hide all of them.
The last time I complained about his videos, I got butchered by his fans; which just tells me I am right to not like the guy due to the meanness of the people who follow him. At least these replies are not hateful. Progress.

Since I DO hide all of them, I know exactly how many are posted each day; by far more than any other one channel.
I legitimately call that spamming.

Cenk is a major voice for progressives, and has been for quite a few years. The fact that you're unfamiliar with him is really not the problem of the OP or anyone else who enjoys these videos.

Perhaps you should consider unbunching your panties and educating yourself. You don't need to be a fan, but it's a bit embarrassing that you don't even know who "this guy" is.

21. His/her comments are ironic.
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 04:04 PM by ihavenobias
He/she says TYT videos are "spam", yet they are well liked by a large number of people here. And they're on progressive news and politics which is what this site is about (and they aren't trying to sell products. etc.). Furthermore, there are a number of OCD posters ;) who put up back to back to back to back to back videos of all kinds (Countdown, Maddow, Think Progress, Media Matters, etc.) yet he/she doesn't deride their efforts as "spam".

I don't either, but I'm amused by the poorly thought out argument he/she is failing to make. The ironic part is that his/her TYT bashing comments are closer to being hater "spam", because they aren't video specific. They generically bash the show and or the posters of the clips rather than explaining why a particular video is wrong (in his/her opinion).

Calling me ignorant means you are obviously holding a mirror. And you are a BIG part of why I do not like smarmy Cenk. He attracts the lowest forms of life at DU.

He did not speak for me (a progressive) when he defended the monkey art as 'non-racist', on MSNBC no less! Not my voice. Since he wasn't born in this country, I don't think he is the right person to comment on racism in the United States.

At least he seems to have taken my earlier advice to get some speech coaching and give up the UHHHHs. That's an improvement.

25. "Since he wasn't born in this country"
"Since he wasn't born in this country, I don't think he is the right person to comment on racism in the United States."

Where he was born is irrelevant. Hypothetically, a tourist from Nigeria who gets called 'monkey boy' in Arkansas has a right to comment on racism in the United States. I didn't agree with Cenk's take on the cartoon either, but that doesn't mean he isn't entitled to have and express his own opinion on racism in the US.

The other member was trying to convince me that Cenk is a "voice for progressives". I disagree. A majority of progressives agree with you and me.

I also disagree with your assessment of who is qualified to ascertain racism native to the United States.

Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 10:58 PM by Turborama
Just as not being born in the US isn't an automatic disqualification.

Here's a simple rhetorical question to show how true that is; what if someone's parents move to the USA when they are 3 months old and they get taunted with racist insults as they grow up?

Sorry but that is a ridiculous statement that could be viewed as ironically racist in and of itself.

The guy got so wrapped up into shouting "under God" that he screwed up the ritual. At the heart of this screw up is his attempts to politicize God.

What a maroon.

13. Interestingly, Francis Bellamy, originally prepared the words as follows...
'I pledge allegiance to my Flag and (to*) the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.'

He considered placing the word, 'equality,' in his Pledge, but knew that the state superintendents of education on his committee were against equality for women and African Americans.

Any time you have a person who can't understand the issues of healthcare, two wars, failing economy, tax cuts that produce no revenue, outsourcing, privatization, torture oh excuse me enhanced interrogation techniques, lies, corporate payoffs i did it again i mean campaign contributions, how in the hell do you expect them to know the Pledge Of Allegiance let alone know what it means. There was a book once i don't know if i have the title right but i think it was called Everything you Learn in Kindergarten. Because that is when i learned The Pledge OF Allegiance. Maybe he should go back to kindergarten.
