It is a shame that you have to rely on the Canadian Media for sympathetic reporting.
A few stories like this in the MSM would change the tone of the health care debate for sure.

specialty reporting the way it used to be here in this country.

When it was done. Not all races were treated equally.

As to the doctor - it seems that there should be some kind of work for him with that background. Paper related work? But, I don't know much about Huntington's disease.

5. Another good one from Canadian TV...
This one is an hour long, though.

It's a panel discussion that includes an American academic who is strongly in favour of universal healthcare, a Canadian businessman who is in favour of privatisation, the head of the Canadian Medical Association, and the head of Canadians for Medicare, a group which lobbies against any weakening of Canada's single payer system.

Part of the fun is watching the pro-privatisation guy get his ass handed to him. Like, repeatedly.

6. That discussion...
was to civil and informative for your average consumer of propaganda here in the states.

As a side note...the Dem's look like they might stick the Camel's nose in the tent...and push through the public option in a watered down format.

10. Huntingdon's Chorea.
I am acquainted with the disease; after the symptoms start, the lifespan is about 20 years, and the latter stages of the progression mean dementia. It's a nasty, nasty, syndrome, and genetic.

11. Horrible disease
and because it is rare, it's not like there's a lot of research going into treatment. What pharma company is going to invest in the R&D to treat Huntington's when they can come up with a far more profitable viagra knock-off?

12. Thanks so much!!
The doctor's riches to rags story has got to punch a hole in people's confidence in the private health care system.

13. our health insurance sucks, for everybody.
Edited on Mon Oct-26-09 11:40 PM by provis99
If one of these health insurance executives got sick, you can bet even his insurance would run out (of course, he'd have enough money to pay out of pocket). The current public option is so weak, it's like putting a band-aid on a machinegun wound. The single-payer, Medicare for all is what we need, and should demand.
