4. Let's start a new thread today.
"Why do we need a health insurance industry at all?"

Here's the scenario:

On the one hand, you have the patients. These are the sick and injured and those seeking preventative exams etc.
On the other hand you have the doctors, nurses, orderlies etc., that actually PROVIDE the health care.

For some reason however, there is this middleman, the health insurance industry, managing the flow of money from the patients to the actual providers.
And these middlemen are skimming off literally Billions of dollars in profits, working in spectacular glass skyscrapers, and paying their executives multi- multi-million dollar bonuses.

Why? How does this help create the best health care system in the world?

Capitalism is great when it rewards innovation, or a good idea, the inventor get rich.

What has the health insurance industry invented here? How have they innovated?

They DENY people coverage. They charge co-payments and fees. They interfere with doctors doing there jobs.

I say, let's just get rid of them. They serve no significant purpose.

6. Nailing the culprits. "it's smoke and mirrors, it's bogus, and it's all too familiar."
Edited on Sat Oct-17-09 01:16 PM by BREMPRO
about the Insurance industry and pundits claims and obfuscation of the issue. It's so refreshing to hear the truth so well articulated without apology or equivocation from a presidents lips. I don't think i've ever heard this kind of revealing rhetoric in my lifetime. He will go after anyone who undermines the public interest. It's only the 7 inning and he's starting to hit home runs. He's got this folks- don't worry.
