1. I became her fan last week... Now I am sure... I LOVE LADY GAGA!!
She won me over with this live performance on Saturday Night Live...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TNaoiHrQ0E

I'm loving her even more after knowing she showed her love for us today.

3. Same here.
Sure, Lady Gaga is a popstar...but she's a popstar with mad talent and attitude. She exposes the sham of celebrity while pretending to be a part of it.

We are the crowd
We're c-coming out
Got my flash on it's true
Need that picture of you
It's so magical
We'd be so fantastico

19. That's fine. Music appreciation is always a matter of taste.
I have no problem spinning Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music to Blind Willie McTell to the Clash to Lady Gaga to Miles Davis.

24. Sorry, but...
Sometimes it's a bit more than just taste and appreciation.

I am a musician and I have played with quite a few folks who could sing and play much better than that.

To me she is just another made up star, as now they just make stars ex nihilo, there is very little hope for talent any more.

25. Yeah right.
It's not like she's a one hit wonder. All young musicians dream of making it big and selling a million records (your friends included) and yet they don't. She has - and without the gorgeous looks of most of her peers.

She's worked her entire life to get where she is, plus she's got a great voice and puts on a heck of a show (freakshow?).

Don't be a hater. Music comes in many forms... enjoy it.

26. Sequencers + drum machine + auto tune = crapula
No band playing in the background, it's nothing but sequencers and drum machines, and her voice is obviously auto tuned.

I am not a hater, all I say is good for her.

I believe in music played by musicians, live.

Just the same way I will go eat at a mom and pop restaurant on Main Street while you go eat a cheeseburger at McDonald's.

And yes, I played with a ton of musicians and singers who had a heck of a lot more talent. Real band, real musician will give you more to eat, more to enjoy.

You can go to any LIVE festival out there and see for yourself.

She is just a cheeseburger, a flavor of the month.

This reign of mediocrity has ceased annoying for a long time, now. I just don't listen to that type of music by tuning to a different station, flipping a different channel and not shopping at Walmart (again, believe it or not: I shop at Mom and Pop shops).

2. Who the hell is Lady Gaga to call out Barney Frank. I get the intent, but Frank's paid his dues.
C'mon.

4. I've paid my dues, and I'm pretty pissed at Barney Frank...
Edited on Sun Oct-11-09 09:22 PM by targetpractice
...for disparaging today's march. I was crushed when I heard what he said.

It's so important for young gays to express themselves this way... I am flummoxed as to why Barney would say it's a waste of time.

I applaud Lady Gaga for calling him out.

Don't you?

I love Barney Frank so much, but I thought to myself... "Sheez... I didn't think he'd turn into such an old crank."

20. I contacted Barney about that crack
I told him if the people take action and the Congress ignores them, the fault lies with the Congress not with the people. I also told him it was insulting and dismissive for him to assume that the people marching do not take other actions as well. His lame I'd rather they lobby than march remark pretends that one can not both lobby AND march.
Barney Frank does not speak for me. He's part of the community, but that is as far as it goes. He's east coast, bored and complacent. He represents his district, and no one else.
Lady GaGa made me happy speaking the truth about and to Binary Barney. She also plays better piano than Barney, and has cuter friends.

12. She's someone who needs that chip on her shoulder to get her through
the fight she's in. And I'm sure Barney Frank will understand that.

14. she's got this great
theatrical flair. as well as talent. and obviously some songs with catchy hooks.

she has thanked "the gays" a couple of times in award shows. she's kind of like kathy griffin in the fact that she's had a lot of success amongst that demographic. and she gives back.

17. my favorite madonna story is this
i went to a socal large high school my senior year. this was quite a change from the small new england prep school i had attended.

i was pretty into punk, and also bands like u2, the police, bla bla, although i did like some of the more electronic pop stuff like depeche mode.

anyway... i was over at this girl's house and she was pretty much into whatever was pop. and madonna had just hit with her lucky star and borderline singles. she was TOTALLY into it, and dancing around and it was driving her sister crazy.

the girls' sister was a "hessian". iow, she was into heavy metal. she said "this madonna is just the current trend. nobody will remember her name 2 yrs from now"

lol

21. Call her GaGa that is her name
She's massively talented in many ways, and I say that as an older 'folk'. She plays a mean piano and writes good songs. She is also one of the kinder people in the biz, kinder than most on DU for sure.
Of course you might not get it. Probably won't get it. And as always in pop, the whining oldsters missing out on the whole deal make the entertainment sweeter. It has always been such, staid old dusty types whining about respect for elders and offices, I mean how dare she upset the decorum! The nerve!
Presidents get called by their last name. All of them. All of them. Get used to it.

Edited on Mon Oct-12-09 08:54 AM by YOY
Because her music flipping blows donkey and no amount of flashy stupid fashion costumery can cover that. That "Pokerface" song makes me want to start punching random strangers.

Oh Freddy...all I hear is "Radio Googoo. Radio Gaga."
