9. He is the kiwi version of George W...
I was so happy when Obama won I cried... then a week later this guy became the NZ PM, and I cried again!!!!

Truthfully he is not as bad as the big bad GWB. He wouldn't dream of getting rid of Public healthcare or any of the other things that make NZ a first world country, but for a kiwi he is pretty right wing!

Oddly enough he grew up in a house provided by the state as his mother was a widow, and they were on welfare, but then he became wealthy and now doesn't show great compassion for the poor!

But he is right about one thing, it's a great wee country and you should visit!!!

6. Once upon a time....

I did a trip with my family to Moorea, Tahiti. My dad is a Dentist and we were told, for some reason, a lot of Dentists love to vacation there. At any rate, while vacationing there, we ran into to one of the top Medical officials from New Zealand. Its been so long ago, I only recall his name was John. He and his wife were also on holiday, and my Dad enjoyed some rather stimulating conversations over drinks of Coconut-Pineapple and (I guess) Rum. They had their thatched cabin near ours, so we often would go to the Beach together, for swimming and water skiing. I had never really thought about going to NZ until I met him, and his lovely wife. Both our families had a blast, and I will never forget it!

7. It's a really lovely place, but economically doing it tough right now . . .
Location and lack of economic diversity have hit them pretty hard. So go and spend some money!

10. Here's another Top 10 reasons to come to NZ
12 It's spring right now, come over now get two summers in a row!!!

11 During most of the day you can call your mates back in the US and say "I am calling you from Tomorrow" and it will be true!

10 We have a completely different accent to Australians!

9 We have a town called Whakatane! (in Maori "wh" is pronounced "f")

8 If you can't spell Whanganui, don't worry neither can the Mayor (google it! he is a right wing redneck who writes abusive letters to schoolkids)

7 Our cops don't carry guns!

6 It's against the law to have additives in butter, or nuclear power!

5 We were the first country in the world to give women the vote, and to legislate a 40 hour working week!

4 Our parliament and broadcasting channels are full of Maori people (contrast with Native Americans)

3 70% of our power is Hydro, and we have significant and growing Geothermal and wind generation as well!!!

2 The scenery on Lord of the Rings, and Narnia weren't touched up digitally that's real, and it isn't even the best bits.

1.5 Flight of the Conchords is actually more accurate than you would even believe!

1.3 Helen Clarke (our former PM) stood up to Bush when the Aussies and Brits Kowtowed!

1 We love Obama!!!! (and anyone who voted for him)
