1. Dean was spot on during the show and refuted Newt/Cornyn again & again

I think they were at a disadvantage - only two of them to one of him

2. But we DO CARE if we get screwed in the process!
Edited on Sun Sep-13-09 12:19 PM by SandWalker1984
What we're going to get if they pass a bill similar to what Obama proposed this week -- Insurance Companies Gone Wild.

There's no mention of regulations or antitrust for them in his proposal.

No punishment for creating a health care crisis because of their greed in denying coverage, denying care and kicking people out that may cost them too much profit to treat.

Let's just reward them by giving them millions of new victims to take advantage of.

Oh, and let's make sure the victims have no avenue of escape.

THAT's what Obama proposed in his pretty speech. Wall Street got the message loud and clear - insurance stocks went up.

So why are some of you having such a hard time accepting the reality that what the Democrats are proposing in the name of health care reform is in fact Wealthcare for the insurance companies?

3. Because Obama is selling it....and they can't let go of their idea of him

Look at these boards and the threads....

Endless talk about the Republicans and teabaggers and birthers.

I can't find ONE thread with a action alert on how to pressure the dems to push real health care reform. This is a disaster. By the time people wake up to the reality of this legislation, it will be too late. We need to push now.

People think electing Obama was the change and any plan that he will push must be a good one. They are wrong.

5. I Couldn't Agree With You MORE!! We MUST STOP Cheer-Leading Any AND
EVERYTHING Obama says and does! Should I say I'm sorry that I'm really disillusioned by so many decisions he's made since he took the "oath of office?" There are so many here who think that those of us who are TRYING to hold his feet to the fire are some kind of weird "leftist" idiots!!

Not ONLY is the WH seemingly not fighting for us, our very own DEMOCRATS are selling us out too! The crazies are taking us to the wood-shed, or so it seems to me! Call them out, say that this country will tire of their antics all you want, but THEY KEEP POPPING UP and making their point LOUD & CLEAR! And MSM is giving them a loud voice and extensive coverage! They LOVE Jope Wilson and that' what we get to talk about! Just ANOTHER diversion, and it goes on and on!

And we sit here and blog away with OUTRAGE! Guess that's all we have and that's all we can do... just sit here and take it, because I'm just NOT SEEING our side fighting for it's own people!

How many thousands worked so very hard to give them EVERYTHING they wanted, but now see how miserable we are being treated?? HOPE & CHANGE?? I'd much rather have ACTION as opposed to pretty speeches and fuzzed up explanations about what the hell is REALLY going to get passed!

I seriously don't know what is happening and don't know where they are leading us! One day, it's PUBLIC OPTION, the next day it's a few words to that affect, then it's information about the deals made with Big Pharma/Insurance Companies... I wonder if we will get much in the end!

FWIW right now, I think we know who has the MONEY and who is getting SCREWED, and I don't think I feel much like the people are winning!

Hijacked by FREEPERS who will STOP at NOTHING! Their mean antics and tactics are driving the car and just saying that 70% of the people want something else mean ZILCH when we can't even get OUR OWN to stand up for us!!

JMO and I feel sick about it all!!

6. Unfortunately, I will have to agree
I spent 3 1/2 weeks in Broward County, FL working my butt off to get him in the WH,
because I have been truly scared for this country for a very long time, and I believed
that he was the only chance we had at getting our country back from the power-crazed, jesus-freak
fascists that took our country from us.

Well, as I watch Obama, time and time again, continue to further the wars, torture, domestic surveillance,
billions of dollars to the rich CEO'S, and now, what will probably end up to be yet another unprecedented gift
to the insurance industry at our expense....

I just have no words.

I understand why people don't want to see it.
I don't want to see it.
But, they wear blinders at everyone's peril.

9. I Too Worked Very Hard For Obama Further Up The Coast In Florida In A Ruby Red
District! A district that is quite infamous or famous for voter fraud! I went to work for him right after the Palin pick, even though I had though of sitting this one out! I couldn't bear to even "think" of what McCain/Palin would do! So out to work I went, and it got very nasty here at times. Still out little group spent every Friday afternoon for about six weeks holding signs up for him, getting called out and even things thrown at us.

I went to countless house parties, made phone calls, went door to door, and you must know how HOT it is in Sept/Oct here in Florida! I have back problems, but still I walked until I could walk no more... many Saturdays to help get him elected! All this, even when he wasn't my first choice!

Now, I can't help but say, I wonder WHY I did it! I agree that there are TOO MANY PEOPLE who have BLINDERS ON, and we had better get it together "like yesterday" if we are to overcome the crap that the other side keeps throwing at us!!

I'm at a loss for words myself... but I'm also extremely angry that it's come down to this!!

WHY AREN'T WE FIGHTING BACK??? I keep asking that question, and RARELY, VERY RARELY does anyone even reply!! I want to make a difference, but I just feel like I'm watching something "implode" as we just sit back and WATCH some more!!

I have a very tiny voice, and I thought living in this County was about as bad as it could get... I WAS SO WRONG! I don't know where I belong anymore!!

11. We can fight back & we will - here -
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/debbierlus/318

This is my first video blog about this issue. I will have another one very soon outlining some basic steps we can take to push reform by supporting the Weiner amendment and letting the Congress and the President know that they ignore the TRUE MAJORITY (that would be people who want sane health care reform that isn't a wet kiss to the corporate insurance companies and big pharm)...they ignore us at their peril.

They think that the people will just keep putting up with it because it is a two party system. But, there comes a time when the people have nothing left to lose with a revolt.

something a couple of days ago! My stomach stays all churned up these days and at times I can hardly catch my breath!

I want to stay an activist, but then I begin to feel defeated all within one hour's time!

Thanks again!

13. There was excitement and "hope" because of the speech before that, where he just kept
saying "Fired up"

Somehow, that was supposed to take care of everything.

It was VERY DEPRESSING.

20. Hey "bobbolink" We've Been On The Same Page For A Very Long Time Now!
I was going stay away from the election, but found myself doing what I always do... working my butt off as usual.

Now, I realize that despite my aversion to McCain/Palin I'm not sure I should even say I worked as hard as I did.

Obama it seems has backed away from so much of what he campaigned on, and I'm still looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. Just a little spark of light would help, just any glimmer!

I'm just not seeing it! Getting too old for this stuff... and poorer by the minute!!

21. Here's what bothers me....
People like you and me are feeling something very profound, and it comes out of a deep love for this country.

Yet, we are kept isolated from each other, including on DU, because this isn't "acceptable" to speak about.

If we who feel this way, and I'm sure there are many of us, could really come together, I think our strength would be considerable.

I'm as tired of the attacks from "progressives" as I am the attacks from the RW!

AND, the attacks certainly haven't and WON'T "convert" me!

22. My Friend... I Will Stand Along & Beside You, Never Fear.. But IT IS
too bad that so many here don't realize what "we're" talking about! There are many, and we really should unite. I have had some PM me and perhaps if we watch closely we can form a list.

I think I'll begin jotting down those names, I have several right off the top of my head!

19. Ditto
I worked for Obama here in Indiana. After 8 months, a clear
picture is emerging. It is not the picture that I worked for.
I might be called a "lefty" because my opinion is
that, so far President Obama has been more of the same,
couched in a wonderful speaker and motivator. However, when it
comes to standing up for the American people and their Right
to have health care and earn a living wage, my President has
fallen short. He has kept the right wing policies of his
predecessor and he seemingly is convinced, through our MSM,
that this is what real people want. We voted, overwhelmingly
for change, get rid of Rahm and rely on people like Bernie
Sanders or Dennis Kucinich to inform you of what real
Americans want and deserve. We voted for a redistribution of
wealth also. So far it is still going to the wealthiest among
us. "Trickle down" has been proven not to work. Let
us try "trickle up" for a change.

4. Gingrich and Cornyn against Howard Dean?
That's like Laurel and Hardy against Godzilla.

There may be two of them, but it's still no contest.

18. Typical whore media idea of balance - three Repukes against one Democrat
Actually, this is better than usual - at least its a REAL Democrat this time. Usually it's three Repukes "opposed" to one DLC'er or Blue Balled Coward.

7. "A squandered summer"
Frank Rich's OpEd this morning is better than Obama's speech.

This is gettin' a Rec because Howard Dean is directly speaking the truth. Again.

10. He Has Always Done So... I Think Even He Thought There Would Be A BIG
push for a Public Option by Obama. I don't think he wants to undermine him, but if I had to bet, I think he's kind of disappointed that it's falling apart like it is!

Rahm Emanuel has never liked him, one would say Rahm has a serious dislike FOR HIM, but it's Rahm who has Obama's ear!!

I'm just venting now because I don't know what else to do! Just came back to check in, no action at the US Open until 4:00 PM, but I'll go back and watch that! But I would really love to see some kind of "push back" to what we see going on! I don't think that's will happen, and we will pay for our APATHY in the end!

Just my prediction, but I think we will pay dearly!

8. All the best fortune to Gov./Dr. Dean where would we be without him. +1...
Edited on Sun Sep-13-09 02:10 PM by GivePeaceAchance
Once small business can catch a break that means they can hire more people and raise wages. IF Dean has every faith in the bill then it has to be a good thing he hasn't let us down before. I think there is an aboundance of misinformaiton out there about this bill and the direction it's heading and I'll go with Howard Deans belef that this will benefit most Americans. It's a stepping stone my guess we have to take that step.

14. True, Dr. Dean, but then the Dems prefer to use the "we don't have the votes"
excuse as their cover so that they don't upset their insurance and pharmaceutical masters. Obama can pull the troops out of the middle east starting tomorrow, but that would upset the industrial complex master. Dems can do a lot of things with their majority if they had the will to do so. Clearly, they do not.

But, don't worry, Dems. The nightmare of the filibuster-proof senate will be gone in the next election and the majority will start to erode, if not flip, due to lack of jobs.
