Note: Unfortunately Cenk was right when he set the over/under at 2 weeks for the resignation of Van Jones: .

Summary: Cenk discusses strong statements from Nancy Pelosi and (my new favorite Congressman) Rep. Anthony Weiner regarding how we 100% need and can not cave on a public option. Although Cenk explains that it's possible for the House to pass a version of a bill with a public option but that when the bill is combined with another version it could be stripped (bait and switch). Rep. Weiner focuses squarely on president Obama and puts some hard, positive pressure from the left before the upcoming speech Wednesday.

1. Well she said that it 'can't' pass the house without a public option. It's something to hold on ...

to I'd say. Check out the clip where Speaker Pelosi said it...

3. Protect Obama from himself

I do not like Nancy Pelosi, but she will be a hero if she does help to draw the point home for Obama. I can easily forget everything that she has ever done that I have disliked. The same way that Dubya had huge support before that issue of there being no weapons found, Obama will lose HUGE support if he does not include a Strong Public Option.

So, here is my question. If I know this and my primary involvement in politics is DU, he must know this. I sure hope that he does not make such a drastic mistake. How can he continue to act as though a strong public option is simply a small issue supported only by the fringe. Who the hell is he surrounding himself with?

4. I like hearing her say it, but I agree she still has some wiggle room
her statement is stronger than Obama's because she says leaving the public option out would be a victory for the insurance companies.

But he's right, she doesn't go as far as she could have. She could have said what the Progressive Caucus said, which is that they would not support a compromise coming out of conference. Cenk nails it, Pelosi could push for a compromise out of conference and she wouldn't be lying now.

Actually I expect something like that to happen. If it comes down to Obama vs. the progressives, I can't see Pelosi going with the progressives unfortunately. I'd like to see it, but it would surprise me if she does.

6. so, like who are TYT
exactly. TYT implies mulitple young Turks.
I remember listening to TYT on Air America (Cenk) -- he really lost me with his sophomoric rants about getting laid. Okay, I'm not saying he doesn't have anything good to say, but really ... It was good when Ben was on with him, I guess he balanced Cenk out -- but when Ben left, it was really pretty pitiful.

I haven't listened to him since then. Has he grown up?

7. Cenk, Ana, Jayar, Dave and Jesus along with guest co-hosts here and there.
Ben co-hosted and recently hosted alone was well recently, as did Sam Seder. Michael Shure, RJ Eskow and Wes Clark JR also co-host from time to time.

PS---I love Cenk's rants, including on personal issues. It spices up the show and makes it far more entertaining. 2 hours of dry politics (I get more than my fill of that from reading and Thom Hartmann) can leave you drained and depressed so I appreciate the humor and off-topic commentary. Of course you do know that it's a 3 hour show, and the *third hour* is dedicated to non-political stories. Maybe you should give it another shot and only listen to the first 1-2 hours. Oh, and the second hour (99% politics) is live on XM167 from 8-9pm EST.

8. Okay, maybe
I'll give him another shot. It just sticks in my mind, one of his rants about how women have men under their spell and control ... and here I am, a 60 year old woman whose breasts have been chopped off, thinking, yeah right. Obviously he was talking about me about 20 years ago. :)
