6. DeMint

No surprise with DeMint, he's from South Carolina. Look at his voting record and who supports him -- conservative, evangelical types. He's still living in the 30's and 40's with race relations. He's been one of Obama's biggest obstructionists. A very sad state of affairs in o9ur country now with people like him who only believe one way and would never work with progressives. Basically, he's working to save his butt on everything he does. If he ever agreed with something the Dems put forward, he'd be ridden out of his state by the right-wing media and some of his constituents.

messy when congress members have to apologize for everything said out there, whatever party they are. But certainly it's wise they tell everyone to tone down the rhetoric in the process of democracy.

In the last month. I beg to differ about "Our Party." Mine is the Democratic Party and I've never heard one word phrase or a discouraging word from any liberal radio talk show host. Maybe you are mistaking the crap you hear on 'your' radios coming from your favorite talk show hosts. Please let me know.

10. I'm not here to do battle with anyone just my opinion no covert operative for the GOP here....

It's just denouncing and renouncing everyhing can just create more tensions than is necessary. If a congress member makes light of lynching yeah that should have an automatic apology.

7. Another Republican invoking Lincoln...

How ironic. They have to go back 150 years to claim that the Republican party is against racism. Going back 1 year to those McCain/ Palin rallies, I beg to differ.

A couple of counter spins I would point out:
1) Lincoln's anti-racism is overstated in the history books. He never promised to abolish slavery, only contain it. The South, in typical (modern) Republican fashion, saw this as the thin end of the wedge and seceded.
2) In the 1860's, the Democrats were the hard-line conservative party, and the Republicans were the liberal, progressive party. They've switched polarities in the century and a half that's passed in the meantime. If Lincoln were alive today he'd most likely be a Democrat.

8. I hope that everyone also knows

that Demint is a member of the Family, as well. Christofascist New Chosen of God. Read Jeff Sharlet's book about them, or his many articles and interviews about them, just google the Family or the Christian Mafia, and you'll see. The Family are the C Street group tied to the recent sex scandals involving Ensign and Sanford, both of whom are members. A rotten lot of white powerful men with massive egos and small minds.
