The United States' top commander in Iraq's second-largest city, Mosul, is warning against the withdrawal of US troops.

Colonel Gary Volkesky told Al Jazeera English that a pullout could give fighters more opportunities to carry out attacks.

But American troops remain scheduled to leave major Iraqi cities and towns on Tuesday. Al Jazeera's Mike Kirsch reports from Mosul.

2. The "surge" created a cosmetic easing of factional hostility.
Bought Bush enough time to get out of town and to hang any future bloodshed in Iraq on Obama.

3. Whether it be GOOD or BAD, the Iraqi people have had enough of Western Militaries
meddling in their SOVERIGN nation. It's beyond time to pick-up and LEAVE: lock, stock and barrel.

4. Apparently those poor Iraqis can't do anything for themselves so we have to help them
repair roads and defend themselves.

What are all those fancy-dressed generals and military officers doing to help their own people?

Let me guess. Skimming money off the top? Selling arms to the insurgents?

Get the fuck out!!!

And come home.

This is why the military should play no role in making decisions about whether we invade a nation or whether and how long we stay there once we do invade. Those guys get so invested in what they're doing and how they're "helping" the locals, that they forget they are invaders in a country that once governed itself.

6. Is he working against Ray Odierno and Obama?
They say the pullout is on track. And he's telling them they shouldn't allow them to pullout? huh? Thats weird
