He mostly calls out the Senate Democrats, points out that it has become more about inside Senate stuff and not about what is best for the country. He said once you are in the Senate you become consumed with the internals of it.

He does not mince words. Says it will look to the people like the Democrats supported the insurance companies instead of the people

Dean says they don't have the spine, the GOP appears tougher. Very very outspoken.

Because we want to nominate a democrat who has the same fortitude as either Dean or Kucinich.

They would do well to listen to him. It was his chairman position that got MANY of them elected.

He's right. They face a ROUT next year and two years later.

Perhaps they preferred their old positions of looking weak and helpless before a Neandercan majority... :eyes:

Nelson, Bayh, Feinstein, Baucus, Conrad are the ones I know of offhand, but are there any other Senators that people here are particularly disappointed in?

5. Here are some more and why they anger some of us.
Evan Bayh's Blue Dog like coalition of Conservadems

Mr. Bayh, Mr. Carper and Ms. Lambert are all honorary leaders of Third Way, a progressive Democratic policy group. Mr. Bayh and Mr. Carper have also lead the centrist Democratic Leadership Council.

The new coalition includes six Democratic freshmen, Mark Begich of Alaska, Michael Bennet of Colorado, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, Mark Udall of Colorado, and Mark Warner of Virginia. Other members of the group are Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Bill Nelson of Florida. Joseph I. Lieberman, the Connecticut independent, is also part of the group.

..."But Mr. Bayh in the MSNBC interview, warned that Mr. Reid would need the new group’s help to get major legislation through the Senate. “As you know, on most things, you’ve got to get the 60 votes in the Senate,” he said. “And that’s going to be hard. And it’s going to take the centrists to get us there. And so we want to help make the changes we need. And that’s — that’s what our group is all about.

He added: “We’re not ideologues, we’re pragmatists. We’re not strident partisans. We care about our country more than our party, and so we want to get things done.”

No they don't want what's best for the country...they want to align with the Senate Republicans and be "bipartisan."

We don't know all of them, some want to be kept secret. We figure 18 to 20 in all in Bayh's Conservadem group.

I can't believe EVEN the Democratic Senators are hedging on this...a few of them. They need to pull their heads out of the insurance lobbyists' asses and represent THE PEOPLE for a change....or we'll change them!!

It's now or never...and we only live once folks. If you think we are going to enjoy a Democratic majority for the rest of time....you are one naive dude. The South continues to obstruct every move this country makes for the better.

24. KO got it
The Democrats have no discipline. Yes, we don't want to be like the Republicans and always vote as a block but on important legislation you would think we could work together. When the Democrats get control they have a strong tendency to break into little groups that each wants to make their power play. This is where strong leadership comes in. I am sure Reid in the Senate is a nice guy but that is his problem he doesn't seem to know how to strong arm people and get them in line. It would not hurt my feelings at all if the Democrats replaced him with somebody that actually has a spine. The Bayh group doesn't have a 'third way' they have the same way the Republicans do and that is obstructionism. If they don't get their way they won't play. Isn't it interesting that they are basically the conservative Democrats and they use the same tactics as the conservatives on the Republicans side (well actually there are only conservatives on the Republican side). Again we don't want lockstep voting like the Republicans but if their choice is to obstruct, which ends up looking a lot like siding with the Republicans, then these Senators need to be replaced.

25. Too bad Vermont can only have two Senators
Obama and Rahmbo shot themselves in the foot when they excluded Howard from the government.

He told me back in early February that if not selected for HHS, he would raise some hell for
causes he believed in. I don't think Obama's guys seriously believed he would, or if they did,
that anyone would listen. I'd bet they believe him now. Instead of having to watch his tongue
as a loyal spokesman for the administration, he now owes nobody anything, and he has been doing
exactly what he said he would--raising hell about some things he believes in.

Howard sure as hell didn't roll over and play dead after losing the primaries in 2004. Why Obama's
people might have thought he would do it now, when he has even less to lose by speaking out, if,
indeed this is the case, I wouldn't know. That last is speculation on my part, as I don't personally
know any of Obama's inner circle, but it certainly seems that way.

Howard has been holding their feet to the fire so long, I think I can smell the charred flesh from here,
and I'm in Central Europe. I'll be cheering him all the way.

29. I am so glad that he IS raising hell ... and raising it effectively.
Howard, unlike too many other Dems, especially those elected to national office, has never let the base down.

The DLC Dems seem to have learned zilch over the past eight years. They all need spine transplants.

Bipartisanship can only exist when both sides WANT to work together. One side (Repubs) has never wanted to work with the other (Dems) so why the side that doesn't want to play nice should be given any credence whatsoever is beyond me.

30. Howard Dean for Health Reform "Czar"
I can't believe Obama isn't using Dean as the administration's champion for reform. Not only does he speak forcefully, but he's a medical doctor to boot. So is his wife. Something just doesn't make sense here. Someone, maybe Obama himself, doesn't like Howard Dean.

34. Maybe it's just me
But I was in Washington in 2006 and saw Rahmbo up close about a day or so after the screaming match with
Howard about the 50 State strategy, and he seemed so high strung that if you stuck him with a needle, he'd
explode like an overblown-up balloon. If he harbored any kind of grudge at all, I'm sure he made absolutely
sure that if he was in, that Howard was out. The rest, as they say, is history. I don't think Obama's
sentiments even got the chance to figure into the equation. Obama wanted Rahm, and if he got Rahm, he lost
Dean, and it appears that that is a trade-off he was willing to accept. He may be having second thoughts about
it, but he is no idiot and knows that at this point, it is a bed he has made and will sleep in for the time-
being. There has been more than one savvy speculator in DC that has expressed the off-the-record opinion that
Rahm's term as WH chief of staff will not be eternal.

But Howard will be nearly 70 in 2016. He is adamant that younger people take the reins in politics.
I don't hear every speech he gives back Stateside, but in private, he feels very strongly about this.

He'll be out there to cheer our man/woman on in 2016, but he won't be the candidate.

49. I fear so
It's not that I think he couldn't do it. Hell, I was just at the 85th birthday party of a friend
who spent half the evening singing and cavorting all over the stage art Carnegie Hall. But Howard
himself said it's time for the younger generation to take the reins of leadership. I think he'd
be downright disappointed if the Party couldn't come up with a leader in his 40s who could inspire
like Obama the candidate did.

And who knows? Maybe once in office, Howard would run into the same roadblocks Obama is looking at
now, and get bogged down in the pursuit of his goals, screaming to the walls in frustration when
the cameras are off, and the listening devices shut down for the night (if, indeed, they ever are).
