It's playing now but you may have to drive a long way to see it. We still have the corporate theater chains censoring anything but entertainment trash!

1. I hope it will have a second life on PBS or cable
because I'd really like to see this one.

I know a lot of what goes on, which is why I don't eat meat, just fish now and then. Today is salmon, actually, wild and undyed, not very much of it.

Anybody who knows what goes on in the horror of trying to factory farm meat is put off it, at least for a while.

Michael Pollan suggests "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." Mark Bittman suggests a good limit for dedicated carnivores is half a pound a week per person.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to avoid corporatized food these days, but knowing what to eat is a great part of the battle. Web MD has a good short list of organic stuff worth the money, http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/news/20060110/organic-food-worth-money

Bittman's TED talk is funny and informative, though longish for folks on dialup, http://www.ted.com/talks/mark_bittman_on_what_s_wrong_with_what_we_eat.html

3. Movie starts in St Louis on 6/26
at the Tivoli. I hope more than "the choir" sees this movie.
A friend told me that Michael Pollen was in St Louis and there was a good size crowd. A guy from Monsanto tried to
bait him but Pollen remained calm.

5. this is on my 'to see' list
although it reaffirms what I already believe in, and much of which I know from reading. I'm sure there's going to be new information, but...

damn. I hope this gets a wide release, although I won't hold my breath. Diet is one of those issues which the vast majority of people get REALLY defensive about, and although this goes beyond diet in scope that's how it'll be seen.

Thanks for posting this Joanne98 - I can't wait to see this. I have a feeling it is going to change the way not only that I see the food industry, but will likely change my eating habits as well.

7. I can't see it.
Although just the thought of it made me go vegetarian 18 months ago. Now I eat mostly plants, a little organic dairy, some fish. We have a wonderful farm here in Virginia, Polyface Farm. It's the way farms should be but aren't. I would love to buy meat for my husband from them but they are three hours' drive away.
