3. LOL! I think that young man has a bright future ahead.
It's probably better for him in the long run that he didn't win.

19. Have you seen the contract they have to sign?
It makes draconian sound pleasant. Boy were they pissed when that came out.

5. I am an American
and I haven't been dying to know. More people vote on American Idol than in general elections, sad.

7. You know what, don't be sad -- it may look depressingly that way, but thankfully no.
Yeah sure, over six hundred million voted this Idol season, but:

1) the vote was distributed over twelve shows,
2) people voted multiple times, and
3) most of those people were too young to vote in elections.

So be of good cheer!

9. It's modernday Bread and Circuses.
Distracts people from silly, inconsequential things like torture.

18. rubbish
it's pop entertainment.

show me a society that didn't have pop entertainment...

maybe the puritans? great, you want to emulate them.

everybody loves to feel so superior by putting down pop entertainment.

back in shakespeare's day, they used bladders filled with blood during some scenes. oldskool splatter film!

you can like american idol AND care about torture. we are not such simple creatures that we can't pay attention to more than one thing.

i don't want to live in a humourless society where only "important" things are discussed.

i like idol.

american idol is actually based on a british show (and it's not britain's got talent fwiw), and is a great formula for entertainment. i applaud it.

10. Not sad for future elections - a generation of political apathy will
be replaced with one who really felt like their votes mattered (both AI an Obama). While they're going to be terribly disappointed that they can't vote more than once, I think it's good to see people getting engaged again. It'll be up to us to make sure they're politically aware and not just voting for the most popular candidate.

And if it is what I think it is, it's nobody's business either (anybody else remember that little catchphrase about whose business it is? )

15. It's not the question you think it is. It's very clever and unexpected.
BTW: It is a spoof and a public service announcement.

17. Americas' almost Idol has talent!
He is funny, charming, offbeat, and sexy.

He's also a few years older than the other contentants and has more confidence and self-assurance.

I never thought twice about whether he was gay on AI. I happened to see him do a song and thought he was hughly entertaining to watch. He's got the "it" factor. I found myself tuning into watch his performance, and tuning out when he was done. Though the girl with the red hair was good too.

I heard that he and Queen are talking about him singing with them.
Adam Lambert is going to be a huge star no matter what he does!
I can't even remember the name of the other guy that won first place.
